The Stanford Introductory Studies Fellowship 2021: (Deadline 16 February 2021)
2 to 3 Stanford Introductory Studies Fellowship to Diversify Teaching and Learning are available at Stanford University. This position is for teaching fellowship positions in the new first-year requirement, the Civic, Liberal, and Global Education requirement program (the COLLEGE requirement), a program that honors the educational tradition established at Stanford in 1923. Courses are frequently interdisciplinary and represent a range of fields within the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Stanford is especially interested in candidates whose backgrounds and life experiences bring additional perspectives and dimensions to the University’s teaching mission.
Summary
Fellows will be placed on teaching teams with Stanford faculty and other fellows in three different courses, one each in autumn, winter and spring quarters. There are two types of course formats in the COLLEGE requirement: stand-alone seminars and lecture courses with sections. Depending on their placement, a fellow will either teach two seminars in the same subject (averaging 15 students each) or they will lead two discussion sections attached to a faculty-led lecture. Teaching in the COLLEGE fellowship is highly collaborative, with weekly teaching team meetings to plan sections and design assignments, and regular all-fellows pedagogy workshops. The fellowship also encourages a research community among fellows and offers programs and individual support for professional development.

The Stanford Introductory Studies Fellowship 2021 begins August 1, 2021 for a two-year term that is renewable for one additional year based on programmatic need and job performance. Annual starting salary will be approximately $71,000 with a supplemental stipend of $2,000 for research and scholarship.
