UN SDSN Youth Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) Program 2024: (Deadline: 22 January 2024)

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth Initiative (SDSN Youth) launched the Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) program with the goal of empowering and providing young urban leaders globally with the information, tools, and platform required to advance progress on Sustainable Development Goal 11.

The LPF program connects, trains, and supports young urban activists, innovators, and thought leaders who are changing cities and urban areas. The fellowship program at SDSN Youth is committed to ensuring diversity of regional representation among its fellows, and candidates are welcome to apply from any city or country in the world.

Rules and Responsibilities:

Over the course of the 10-month LPF program, fellows map out how to “localize” SDG 11. Monthly deliverables for the program revolve around:

• Learning: Being aware of the main issues that metropolitan areas face on a global scale and realizing how these places have the power to influence change in the future.
• Project Development: Applying newly gained insights and understanding to create a project that tackles issues unique to their city and field of interest.
• Network building is the process of establishing connections with 550+ fellows from 180 different cities in 80 different countries so that you can share resources, build solutions, and exchange knowledge.
• Mentoring: Through the LPF webinar series, obtain knowledge and guidance from professionals in the field.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be chosen as a Local Pathways Fellow, candidates need to fulfill the following requirements:

• Interest in sustainable development and a strong commitment to SDSN’s mission, which includes pursuing the SDGs and the climate change agreement in Paris.
• Strong background in development practice, community involvement, advocacy, urban planning, urban environment, urban sustainability, and related fields.
• Experience in related fields, whether professional or academic, is deemed a valuable asset.
• Able to oversee consistent communication with the team despite geographical differences and be responsive.
• Outstanding leadership and organizing abilities.
• Exemplary interpersonal and project management skills, as well as a track record of working well in a team and solving issues.
• Outstanding command of both the native tongue of the cities they represent and the English language.
• Show that you have the necessary time and resources to dedicate, as well as a reliable and steady internet connection.
• In the age range of 18 to 30 to be considered for this position.
