Shakespeare & Company seeks a qualified, experienced, and imaginative Director of Marketing and Communications. Reporting to the Managing Director, this position also collaborates with the Artistic Director to develop and disseminate the Company’s artistic vision for a broad and inclusive audience. The ideal candidate has strong people management skills with demonstrated experience in creating and managing a culturally diverse team, and the ability to lead the use of digital media to drive revenue. The candidate is also a team player with a strong antiracist perspective and be a strategic, flexible, positive and curious thinker responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring a successful and comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations strategy to promote Shakespeare & Company Performances, Education Program, and Center for Actor Training on a local, national, and international scale. Responsibilities include the conception/execution of annual and multi-season ticketing campaigns; forging strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, as well as coordination of media placement, including social media; serving as a daily contact for marketing partners and vendors; and steering audience outreach and engagement efforts, including in support of the Company’s vigorous commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access, and anti-racism initiatives. A senior member of the Shakespeare & Company team, this position manages a full-time Public Relations Manager, Patron Services Manager, and Graphic Designer/Marketing Associate, as well as seasonal staff and outside contractors as needed. In coordination with the department, the Director of Marketing and Communications directs, designs, and distributes all collateral and promotional materials.
