World Vision seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced national for the position of Communications Officer. This position will be based at the World Vision Rwanda Head Office, Kacyiru, Kigali and reporting to the Communications Manager.

Purpose of the position:

Provide communications support to World Vision Rwanda stakeholders both internal and external to enhance marketing of World Vision Rwanda projects as well as providing in-county publicity. This communications includes stories both feature and news, opinion pieces and press releases and photographs, books, magazines etc




The major responsibilities include:

  • Increase awareness of WV Ministry (write news stories, feature articles and staff news, photographs, annual reports, brochures, calendars, press conferences, videos e.t.c on World Vision Rwanda and its activities for dissemination in the local and international media- newspapers, radios, televisions, websites and World Vision partnership database).
  • Market WVR as a Christian organization and routinely provide information about WVR activities to support offices, the partnership, Government, other Civil Society Organizations and the public at large through magazines, leaflets, websites, direct mail appeal and international media and for sponsor recruitment.
  • Promote WVR advocacy work by producing communication materials/resources such as fact sheets and special reports that promote the welfare of disadvantaged children, families and communities.
  • Provide technical communication support to other World Vision Rwanda divisions, departments and projects in the production of publications in line with WV Communication Policy.
  • Perform public relations function such as issuing press releases, organizing media coverage, briefing media, correcting wrong perceptions by providing information on WVR and its ministry to local and foreign individuals and organizations seeking it.
  • Handle media relations role to enhance the working relationship between WVR and media in coverage for strategic positioning of WVR
  • Regularly update the World Vision Rwanda website. Play a leading role organizing World Vision’s major events and events management.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations.

Experience

Project Coordinator

World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced national for the position of Project Coordinator. The position will be based in various locations in Rutsiro District and reporting to the Food Assistance Program Manager

Purpose of the position:

The Project Coordinator will be responsible to ensure smooth operation of the Mukura Zero Hunger Project. He/she will be responsible to all field aspect for the Project in providing advice and support in planning, designing, implementing, training /guiding, monitoring and evaluation of project/ agricultural interventions. He/she will play an active role in coordination, technical assistance and advocacy with the local government, local communities, partners and other stakeholders.

Furthermore, he/she will ensure the project is implemented as per project design, log frame, plan of action and standard World Vision Cash for Work Manual. Ensuring staffs have a full understanding of technical issues related to cash for work and able to implement them in the program.

The major responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical backstopping in coordinating all CfW components including area selection, community capacity & participation and coordination
  • Develop and facilitate the District Plans for Mass Campaigns and Facilitate the Development of Public Private Partnership in implementation of agricultural activities
  • Facilitate formation and strengthening (group management, financial literacy, basic market skills, value chain innovation and NRM ) of Commercial Producer Groups (CPGs) and Commercial Villages (CVs) and Promote peer to peer learning among Agricultural value chain actors for bulk agricultural production and marketing and broker commercial business relationship among actors
  • Develop and ensure uniform payment procedures, including documentation, approval and actual payment are maintained in the program area
  • Review designs of cash for work interventions, cost estimates and labor and time-line requirements for Cash for Work activities, determining various requirements.
  • Develop, build capacity and ensure field technical teams adhere to the minimum standards of Cash for Work in program area
  • Develop Cash for Work programmatic guidelines and build capacity of field teams in addressing complaints and local/political interference
  • Ensure cash for Work staffs receive comprehensive orientation and on-job capacity enhancement training Complete any required technical review as and when required to ensure quality and accountability, ensure all team members involved in the project are of high level of project understanding and abide to the partnership accountability protocol.
  • Identify smallholder farmers training needs and facilitate farmers trainings on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and facilitate study tours
  • In partnership with VFR , facilitate access to agro input by smallholder farmers and identify the inputs necessary to implement the program, with the support of the Field Supervisor
  • Facilitate selection of Model Farmers, installation of demo farms for Core Value Chains, Develop and use innovative approaches in promoting rural rooted agricultural technologies,Provide inputs into overall strategic planning, donor proposal development and conduct research and studies related to agricultural value chain development and Produce case studies of market based approaches and agricultural interventions that clearly demonstrate social transformation and sustainable development
  • Effectively document all information related to project successes and best practices thus sharing it in agriculture magazines or news papers, create a bank of pictures, videos, aired radio programs and most significant change stories on the project in the selected ADP, and document and report initial market assessment findings.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (Crop Production, Agricultural Engineering or Animal Science),Agribusiness or Agricultural Economics.

Experience

JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide overall leadership and management of the finance function, by promoting financial stewardship, accountability, reliability and accuracy of financial information to be used by senior Leadership team for decision making.

To develop and implement financial policies, ensuring compliance at all levels, and to ensure effective resource acquisition, utilization and safe guarding of assets according to WV approved policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Financial Planning and Management:

  • Coordinate and guide the process of benchmark strategy in relation with the new cost allocation methodology and advise management on strategic resource acquisition and allocation in line with the approved regional recommendations.
  • Manage organization’s budget, cash flow and project funding, in collaboration with the Operations Director.
  • Coordinate the budgeting process and contribute to the preparation of the annual operating plan as per guidelines.
  • Prepare a quarterly analysis of the financial situation of the organization.

Promote Financial Accountability and Reporting:

  • Ensure staff know about the organization’s Finance policies, guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure the submission of timely, accurate and complete relevant reporting and compliance with year-end closing process and carry forward guidelines.
  • Conduct quarterly field visits to monitor on accountability issues, follow up on implementation of audit findings and provide support.

Financial Risk Management:

  • Ensure that appropriate financial systems and internal controls are in place both at the head office and project levels.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Ensure competent and motivated Finance staff are hired and retained.

  • Ensure implementation of new global initiatives involving Finance.

Strategic Networks and Relationships:

  • Develop good networks and relationships internally within the wider World Vision International organisation and externally with other NGO, Banking entities and government regulatory bodies.
  • Attend and actively participate in Regional Strategic meetings.
  • In collaboration with the National Director, develop and maintain productive and effective relationships with support offices, regional office, and the global centre.

FULL POSITION TITLE: PARTNERSHIP LEADER, STRATEGY, REALISATION, COLLABORATION & INNOVATION

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position will provide leadership and act as a key focal point for the 2030 strategy adoption and alignment across World Vision Partnership and near-team strategy realisation to maximise impact for children and the poorest of the poor. Lead the Global Office of Strategy, Collaboration & Innovation (GOSCI) and the Strategy Realisation Office (SRO) and facilitate the network of strategy professionals within entities across the partnership.

This position, in collaboration with others will ensure the application of a consistent model for strategy implementation, appropriate high level content/focus, and the coordination of all entities efforts to both.

  • The Partnership Leader will also have oversight of the Partnership Planning Cycle and will work with the rest of the partnership. There is regional matrix reporting relationship into the position.
  • The Partnership Leader will continue to structure internal consulting response to meet the needs of Partnership entities in refining strategy, supporting critical business analysis, business planning, organisational strategy and their processes in collaboration with the Partnership senior leadership.
  • The Partnership Leader will enable and advance the organisation’s culture and competencies in collaboration and innovation and take on specific collaboration and innovation activites as agree with the Partnership senior leadership. This position will lead the scanning and engaging on external trends considering the implications and scenarios to WV, and formulating actions and changes to the Partnership strategy accordingly.

The Partnership Leader must resolve the strategy – that is, clarify it for the GOSCI and for every business unit and function, ensuring that all employees understand the details of the strategic plan and how their work connects to corporate goals. This is crucial for building the federation necessary to enact change.

Ensure Capacity of Organisation to think and work Strategically, Collaboratively and Innovatively:

  • The GOSCI continues to develop capacity within the organisation to think and work strategically, collaboratively and innovatively in a consistent and effective manner. This capacity is built across the Partnership using a strong and well-functioning Partnership strategy, collaboration and innovation networks.
  • Improving ministry impact through innovation in core products and process innovation, as well as support Global Resource Development’s efforts to accelerate field based resource development via fund-raising, partnering and further diversification of the donor base. Enabling improved business process optimisation through more intentional collaboration and use of technology.

Oversight to Partnership Planning Cycle :

  • Our strategy process emphasises dialogue involving knowledge sharing and consensus building. This supports our widely diversified federal Partnership both from governance and a resourcing perspective. This dialogue of alignment, for all entities, is facilitated through the GOSCI’s oversight of the Partnership Planning Cycle. The Partnership Leader is responsible to highlight misalignment to the ExL and recommend solutions.
  • This position will have oversight of the Portfolio Management and Resource allocation methodology and will link the PMRA working group to the senior leadership of the Partnership. Investment guidelines bring consistency and transparency to the allocation of shared resources, which helps us to achieve the greatest impact and make the greatest difference through our ministry wherever we work.

Innovation, External Landscape and “Futurism”:

  • Create and implement a global approach to identifying and scaling innovative approaches that will benefit the entire partnership. Ensure appropriate funding is available to support and lead innovation in the marketplace. Ability to scan and interpret the external landscape and trends, and ability to translate into understandable implications for World Vision.
  • Leverage organisational capital through innovation, corporate and industry structures and assure that all of these are planned, filtered and executed against a continual review and updating of Global Mega Trends and Future Change.
