Applications are open for the Google Startups for Sustainable Development Program 2025. Google’s Startups for Sustainable Development program supports a global ecosystem of impact-focused startups. The program builds community and supports startups with advisors, funding, and platform technology. The 17 SDGs are used as the framework for measuring impact. The program is not time-bound, so as to support startups in their mission for long-term impact at scale.
Benefits
- Advisors: Expert guidance can unblock, accelerate, and inspire. Startups are matched within a network of experts for advice, mentorship, and support across a range of domains and subject matters.
- Funding: Startups need to be funded for scale. Google connects them to the funding ecosystem, including venture capital and other investment partners, to secure the funding that supports their impact goals.
- Technology: Sustainable development can only scale with access to scalable technology platforms. From open datasets to cutting edge AI, Google brings to startups the best of research to take them to the next level.
Eligibility
Startups for Sustainable Development is an online-only, global program. They accept impact startups from all over the world (with 70 countries and counting!).
To be considered for the program, your startup should meet the following criteria
- Impact-Driven: addressing one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a direct, measurable way
- Technology-First (software or hardware): Have a technology-based product or service with an innovative angle. They are especially interested in startups leveraging AI.
- Proven Traction: Applicants should be past the “idea stage”, have at least Proof of Concept, MVP a plus
- Scalable Model: Demonstrate the potential for significant growth and impact at scale
- Team: For profit startups with full-time founders

Application
Once your application is submitted, expect a ~1-4 week turnaround time on application review and follow up. If the team moves forward with your application, they will invite you to the next onboarding session.
