Asia in the World Fellowship Programme 2026–2027 – IIAS Postdoctoral Research Residency
The Asia in the World Fellowship Programme, offered by the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) in Leiden, Netherlands, supports outstanding early- to mid-career researchers focusing on Asia’s global connections. The 12-month, fully funded fellowship includes immersive research residencies in Leiden and one of IIAS’s global partner institutions.
Who Is This For?
- Early-to-mid-career scholars holding a PhD (or doctoral candidates defending by 15 February 2026) (iias.asia)
- Experts in Asian Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, or the Arts with an interdisciplinary or comparative perspective (iias.asia)
- Researchers whose work connects Asia to global contexts and aligns with IIAS’s thematic clusters: Asian Cities, Global Asia, or The Politics of Culture (gis-reseau-asie.org)
Programme Structure & Benefits
The fellowship runs from October 2026 to October 2027, divided into:
