PUBLIC RELATION OFFICER

 

Job description

 

To raise awareness of WASAC’s work and development activities, and increase its profile by promoting its activities through the appropriate public relations programs, media and communications channel;

 

 

Drive public relations strategy that is integrated with the broader WASAC Public

 

Relations plan to advance the company’s branding and awareness initiatives Proactively develop internal and external crisis communications and issue management guidelines and processes that can be used to quickly develop and execute crisis communication plans

 

Work with management and department staff to establish best practice regarding Public relations;

Provide daily traditional media and social media analysis reports and crisis reports

Guidelines for optimizing news for online distribution (traditional and social media) Develop communications platforms, strategies and compelling messages that support WASAC brand, business objectives and company leadership

Maintain relevant statistics and information relating to the overall operation of WASAC

Write press releases, articles, pitch stories, coordinate media visits, and update pertinent social media sites

Monitor and distribute WASAC media coverage and other press coverage relating to the development works

Manage Media inquiries and uphold the reputation of WASAC

Maximize awareness of the services of WASAC in collaboration with the Head Public Relations

Develop and maintain positive relationships with all vendors and media

partners to help achieve Public Relations development and other departmental targets;

Up to date website and Social media platforms with appropriate content

 

 

 

 

Qualification and Required Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing or Mass communication or Social Sciences;

At least 2 years of working experience as Marketing, or Public Relations.

The incumbent will ideally be bilingual with strong command in English and

Kinyarwanda added advantage.

HEAD PUBLIC RELATIONS UNIT

 

 

Job Description:

Responsible for handling all aspects of planned publicity campaigns and PR activities ensuring that details of WASAC’s activities, appointments and awards are publicized and communicated appropriately to the stakeholders and to the wider general public as necessary;

 

Draft and implement crisis communication plan

 

Decide what is the “appropriate” vehicle for communication (website newsletter, professional publication, email, flyer, personal letter or telephone, etc.);

Agree with CEO the strategy for publicity and formulate a plan for implementation;

Report regularly to CEO on both the communications and success rate, recommending any revision to the plan;

Provide monthly report on PR activities and challenges;

Deal with the media on behalf of the utility to ensure that details of any such media involvements are immediately communicated to the CEO;

Monitor public opinion regarding the utility or particular issues;

Develop and implement communication strategies for WASAC and advise management on communication issues and strategies;

Plan public relations programs, including the preparation of cost budgets for the year; Respond to inquiries from the public, media and other organizations;

Arrange interviews with journalists, prepare and distribute news releases, and make statements to the media.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualification and Required Experience

 

Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing or Media Arts or Social Sciences;
Relevant professional qualification;
At least 4 years’ experience working as Communications, Public Relations and Marketing specislist for those with Bachelor’s degree.
At least 2 years’ experience working as Communications, Public Relations and Marketing specislist for those with Master’s degree.
The incumbent will ideally be bilingual with a strong command in English and Kinyarwanda added advantage

JOB AT WASAC LTD : SPIU COORDINATOR : ( Deadline : 11 June 2019 )

 

 

SPIU COORDINATOR

 

a) Duties and responsibilities

 

The SPIU Coordinator will report to the CEO and will have following responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the implementation of all projects components by providing strategic leadership to ensure the achievement of projects goals and the sustainability of expected outcomes

Manage and supervise consultants and contractors involved in delivery of all components of the projects to ensure all participants adhere to the highest quality standards and work towards meeting annual targets and outcomes

 

 

Supervision of staff attached to SPIU

 

Coordinate with the Director of Support Services, the Director of Water & sanitation Development, and the Chief Finance Officer for the implementation of administrative, technical and financial aspects of the project respectively

Ensure the preparation of annual projects implementation plans in accordance with the principles and implementation timetable outlined in the projects financing agreements and project agreements

Coordinate with development partners to ensure that technical, procurement or financial management matters are in place before executing related activities

Conduct site-visits to monitor the implementation of works.

Prepare and submit timely monthly, quarter and annual project progress reports and any other reports that may be required.

Maintain proper books of account, financial statements for Projects.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO

 

 

 

 

b) Qualification and experience required

 

Master’s degree or Bachelor degree in Project Management, Business administration, Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, or any other related field with experience of 5 years for a master’ holder and 8 years for a bachelor’ holder in project planning, supervision and construction works related to the development water supply and/or sanitation projects
Experience of at least 2 years at a senior management level in a comparable organization
Experience working with or within both the public and private sector
Staff supervisory experience and demonstrated organizational skills
Proven managerial ability, leadership and strategic expertize
Demonstrated diplomatic, negotiations and interpersonal skills
Experience with donor funded projects
Ability to manage projects effectively – consistently ensuring timeliness and quality of project work
Ability to work under pressure
He/ She should ideally be bilingual with a strong command in either of the languages (English or French).
