ASSISTANT UNDERWRITER – GI, RWANDA ROLE SIZE K (1 POST)

 

 

Job Purpose

 

Reporting to the Senior Underwriter- GI, the Assistant underwriter will be responsible for underwriting and processing General business.

She/he assesses the risk within limited authority and handle customer issues to ensure quality risk selection and timely customer service delivery whilst maintaining high levels of customer service at all times through daily interaction both internal and external stakeholders.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Preparation of quotations in a timely manner to assist in the business acquisition
Carrying out renewal process with the aim of returning business
Processing documentation as evidence of agreed terms
Prepare quotations in consultation with supervisors, in a timely manner to assist in the business acquisition
Prepare, dispatch and follow up of renewal business to ensure retention
Book premiums and process underwriting documentation
Respond to customer queries and complaints in a timely manner
Enforce credit control and cancel policies not paid for to ensure premium is received for risks accepted
Keep motor certificates allocated safely and make monthly declarations of usage
Business degree preferably in Insurance
Professional qualification (ACII)
3 years’ Experience in Underwriting
Possess excellent risk management experience
Integrity and ethical values
Should be able to exhibit great Interpersonal and communication skills
Uses Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint effectively
Good communication skills
Computer literate
Good assessment and analytical skills
Ability to interact at all levels
Knowledge of insurance market
Application of reinsurance
Report writing and presentation skills
A good product knowledge, and commercial underwriting experience ( a must)

ASSISTANT UNDERWRITER – HEALTH, RWANDA ROLE SIZE K (1 POST)

Job Purpose

 

Reporting to the Manager- Health, the Assistant underwriter will be responsible for underwriting and processing medical business.

She/he maintains high levels of customer service at all times through daily interaction both internally and externally, whilst attending to major responsibility lines as follows:

Preparation and dispatch of accurate policy documents at inception of cover.
Debiting of premium within the month and reporting.
Preparation and dispatch of accurate renewals and other endorsements
Facilitate preparation and dispatch photo cards within 5 days after confirmation of cover
Preparation and dispatch of renewal invitation letters 6 weeks before renewal date
Timely response to customer within service charter standards

 

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Apply standard rates, calculate premiums, and underwrite new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
Generations of renewal letters and follow up.
Debit premiums for new, renewal and endorsements advised/agreed with client and or intermediaries.
Prepare premium invoices and collection.
Exceeded benefit debt collection and reporting
Loading of benefits and membership maintenance.
Works closely with field marketing staff/agents, brokers to develop and maintain positive business partnerships
Liaison with brokers/agents and direct clients to verify information, explain and interpret coverage.
Preparation of member guides and underwriting summaries.
Generate utilization reports, member statements, and loss ratio trends.
Ensure compliance with standards of service/Customer service charter in all underwriting operations.
Perform any other duties as may be requested by Management.

 

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATION &EXPERIENCE

 

Degree in Insurance /Social sciences/Education/Commerce.
Demonstrate interest in attaining professional insurance qualification
Experience in medical insurance underwriting will be an added advantage

UNDERWRITER – HEALTH (1POST) ROLE SIZE L

Purpose of Role

 

Reporting to the Manager-Health, The underwriter will be responsible for underwriting of corporate schemes and account relationship management for the health corporate business.

S/He will be responsible for the renewal budget for the corporate accounts assigned to him through maintaining high levels of customer service at all times through daily interaction both internally and externally.

 

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

 

Apply standard rates, calculate premiums, and underwrite renewal business endorsements, and cancellations.
Prepare renewal terms for corporate business in time and ensure close and tactical follow up to renew the businesses of renewal letters and follow up.
Prepare premium invoices and ensure timely premium collection as per the credit policy.
Follow up on debt collection and reporting
Ensure accurate benefits set up and membership maintenance in the system.
Ensure timely scheme performance reporting as per SLA’s with clients and intermediaries and attend scheme performance review meetings as per set guidelines.
Ensures that systems and procedures covering underwriting operations are adhered to and supervises the Underwriting Assistants to ensure quality and timely service
Works closely with field marketing staff/agents, brokers to develop and maintain positive business partnerships
Liaison with brokers/agents and direct clients to verify information, explain and interpret coverage.
Preparation of member guides and underwriting summaries.
Generate utilization reports, member statements, and loss ratio trends.

ASSISTANT CLAIMS ANALYST HEALTH (1POST) ROLE SIZE K

 

Reporting to the Senior Claims Analyst, the incumbent will be responsible for organizing and maintaining medical claims documents and Archives filing systems for easy retrieval of file and to offer proper security precautions and storage for both current and non-current files processing claims in an expeditious and professional manner thereby meeting the customer’s expectations and the overall departmental objectives.

 

The key objectives for this position are: –

 

Registration and Vetting of claims
Libelling of all incoming files in a systematic manner to ensure accurate and efficient management of documents
Batch, scan and index all claim documents for payment processing monthly.
Process claims payments to providers with consultation with claims analyst
Provide reports of claims received and not paid (outstanding claims)
Monitor and support scanning materials to ensure constant supply
Facilitate archiving of scanned claims documents after payment.
Update inventory cards when files are returned to the registry to track the movement of files
Maintain an updated record of all files in registry to facilitate easy tracing of files
Repair torn files and change weak rails and ensure high standards are maintained in records management
Appraise files, transfer and organize arrangement of the non-current files in the Archives to ensure only current files are kept in the registry and non-current files are transferred and kept in the archives
Recommend disposal/destruction of files to ensure adequate utilization of filing space
Keep an inventory of available space and recommend future needs for an efficient registry.
Coordinate, set and monitor targets for the Registry Operations to ensure smooth running of the registry
Prepare monthly reports for the Manager’s review.
Ensure security of files in the registry and that sensitive information remains confidential
