AU Call for Papers: 7th Congress of African Economists (CAE) 2025
The African Union (AU) is calling for submissions for the 7th Congress of African Economists (CAE), to be held from 10–12 November 2025 in Libreville, Gabon. Organized by the AU’s Department for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Minerals (ETTIM), this high-level event invites African scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to contribute original research under the theme:
Theme: Investing in Infrastructure for Productive Transformation in Africa
Objectives of the Congress
The congress aims to:
- Analyze strategies for infrastructure financing and sustainability
- Promote innovative tools to bridge infrastructure gaps
- Explore cross-border integration through regional infrastructure
- Identify training and capacity-building needs
- Examine the impact of energy and digital infrastructure on inclusive growth
Who Can Submit?
Eligible applicants include:
- Researchers and academics from African universities and institutions
- Policy experts and development professionals
- Master’s and PhD students
- Young scholars and members of the African diaspora are highly encouraged
Submission Guidelines
- Deadline: Submit full papers and a 250-word abstract by 5 September 2025
- Format: MS Word, A4, Times New Roman 12 pt, single spacing, 2.5 cm margins
- Referencing: Harvard style
- Cover Page: Must include title, author(s), institution, and country
Awards & Recognition
- The top three papers will be awarded and authors invited to attend the congress with travel and accommodation covered by the AU
- Selected papers will be published in the African Integration and Development Review and the official Congress proceedings
Why This Matters
Infrastructure is key to Africa’s transformation. The Congress will serve as a platform for policy dialogue, research dissemination, and continental cooperation. Findings and recommendations will be presented to AU member states, RECs, and global partners for implementation.
