INTERNSHIP OFFICE BACKGROUND: The Intern will strengthen UNDP’s capacity to support Rwanda to make the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals a reality. The Intern will provide analysis, coordination and quality assurance support to the Country Office through the Inclusive Green Economy Unit. S/he collaborates with teams within the Country Office and throughout UNDP to support the representational, advocacy, partnership and communication commitments of the Resident Representative. The Intern monitors and analyses development trends, activities, reports, audit findings and evaluation results from the CO and offers substantive recommendations to inform future country decisions and enhance CO results and performance. S/He provides substantive support to the Country Office’s position as a leading UN Agency on complex development issues, by supporting CO Senior Management in proactively engaging with internal and external stakeholders, preparing briefing notes and positioning papers, and reviewing and appraising the quality, completeness and relevance of information provided by relevant parties. S/he will be guided by and report to the Senior Economist/Economic Advisor in IGEU. The supervisor will mentor the Intern in three key areas:

The Intern will work closely with UNDP programme Units, Including Transformational Governance Unit (TGU), Sustainable Growth Unit (SGU), Accelerator Lab and YouthConnekt Programmes.
3: Supervision Name of Supervisor: Osten Chulu: Economic Advisor Content and methodology of supervision: The Intern will benefit from the following supervision modalities: • Structured guidance provided by the supervisor, especially at the beginning of the assignment, with the purpose of gradually increasing the responsibilities of the Intern • Establishment of a work plan, with clear key results. • Effective supervision through knowledge sharing and performance/development feedback throughout the assignment. • Easy access to the supervisor. • Participation in Unit/Team/Office meetings to ensure integration and operational effectiveness.

INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS
Financial Issues Internships within the UN system are subject to conditions the applicant must get familiar with before signing his/her internship agreement. Starting from January 2020 interns will receive stipends according to UN rules and regulations. Any further costs associated with the internship must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her arrangements for travel, accommodation and other costs. Stipend Interns will be given a stipend according to the UNDP Internship Policies, if they are not financially supported by any institution or programme, such as a university, government, foundation or scholarship programme. The monthly amount of the stipend will be determined for each duty station based on the stipend rates published yearly by the OHR Policy and Compensation Unit. The stipend will be paid on a monthly basis and part-time internship arrangements are prorated accordingly.
