
Access City Award 2025 – Recognizing Europe’s Most Inclusive Cities: (Deadline 9 September 2025)
The European Access City Award is an annual initiative by the European Commission’s Justice and Fundamental Rights department that recognizes European cities of 50,000+ inhabitants excelling in accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. The award highlights best practices improving built environments, transport, digital solutions, and social initiatives.
Who Can Apply?
- Any European city with a population over 50,000
- Cities committed to implementing comprehensive accessibility strategies
- Municipalities actively involving people with disabilities in policymaking

Criteria for Selection
Cities are evaluated based on:

- Social initiatives, civic participation, and transparency
- Innovation and sustainable practices
Timeline
- Call for applications opens annually (typically early in the year)
- Submission deadline usually falls in spring
- Award ceremony and announcement of winners during Europe’s Disability Rights Week or equivalent
