Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders 2025 (Deadline: 4 September, 2025)

Applications are open for the Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders 2025. The Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders (AFYEL) is a six-month, no-cost, professional fellowship that prepares Africa’s next generation of clean-energy leaders with rigorous, expert-led training across core renewable technologies and applied field experience. AFYEL combines a general foundational module with specialized tracks, a one-month internship, capstone projects that solve real local problems, and a virtual summit that connects fellows with global mentors and industry leaders.

Applicants select one track from:

• Bioenergy
• Hydropower
• Solar PV
• Onshore Wind

Each track includes expert lectures, practical case studies, mentoring and a track capstone

Eligibility

• Open to early-career engineers, researchers, policy practitioners, economists and finance professionals;
• Be typically 21–35 years;
• Be from African countries with postgraduate or undergraduate qualifications in energy-related fields,
• Can commit to the six-month program and a one-month internship;
• Applicants should be ready to engage in live sessions, project work and mentorship.

Application

Applications will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary panel using a transparent rubric that scores technical fit, motivation, commitment, and potential for impact.
