Application Process Overview

Cure Parkinson’s uses a two-stage application process:

Stage 1: Outline Application

• No need for official financial or institutional sign-off at this stage

• Internal triage by CP’s research team

• Review by the CP independent Research Committee (RC)

• Outcome: invitation to Stage 2 if successful

Stage 2: Full Application

• Includes detailed study design, budget, and institutional support

• Signed institutional support letter required

• Submission for written external expert review (2–3 reviewers)

• Review and decision by the Research Committee

• Possible outcomes: reject, revise, or recommend for Trustee approval

Commercial Applications

Applicants collaborating with or representing commercial entities must submit a commercial entity form. Commercial reviews may involve:

• Assessment of financial and strategic context

• Evaluation of budget justifications

• Consideration of public benefit from project outcomes

Applications must be submitted through the Symplectic Grant Tracker system. First-time users must register with a valid email and follow the verification process.

Completing and Submitting the Application

• Use help text within the online form for guidance

• All fields must be completed, and necessary documents uploaded

• Save progress

• Once all sections of your application are complete:

  • Navigate to the “Validation” tab in the Grant Tracker system.

  • This tab will indicate:

    • Any sections that are incomplete.

    • Any content that exceeds word limits.

  After successful validation:

  • The Lead Applicant can submit the application.

  • Upon submission:

    • A grant reference number is assigned.

    • All listed contacts will receive email confirmation.

    • The application automatically enters Cure Parkinson’s review process.

Content of Applications

Applicants must disclose if:

• Any third-party funding has already been received.

• A project is currently under review by another funding body.

• The Research Committee (RC) makes funding recommendations to CP Trustees.

• If multiple projects are recommended, the RC prioritises them by merit.

• CP and/or Trustees may seek a commercial review of applications where applicable.

• Trustees make final funding decisions based on:

  • RC recommendations

  • Funding availability

  • Commercial reviews

  • Other relevant factors aligned with CP’s charitable obligations

• Guidance for improving proposals

• Support with applications to other funding bodies

Additional Information

Applicants are notified as follows:

• Successful applicants receive confirmation from the Chair of the RC or a CP senior representative.

• A Grant Contract must be signed before project commencement.
