The WashU Law AI Fellowship Program offers an exceptional opportunity for law students to dive into the evolving world of artificial intelligence, legal innovation, and public impact. Hosted by the WashU Law AI Collaborative, this fellowship is designed to cultivate the next generation of legal professionals shaping how law interacts with cutting-edge technology.

About the Fellowship
This hands-on fellowship equips students with real-world experience through research, content development, community engagement, and thought leadership. Fellows will help advance WashU Law’s leadership in AI and legal education by contributing to:

Leadership training programs
  • Public and professional programming

  • Legal tech publications

  • CLE program research

  • Alumni and industry outreach

Whether you’re passionate about AI policy, ethics, or generative technologies, this fellowship offers a dynamic platform to build your expertise—no technical background required.

Who Can Apply

The program is open to:

  • 2L and 3L JD students

    Education resources
  • LLM students

  • JSD students
    at Washington University School of Law (WashU Law) for the 2025 academic year.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • An interest in AI, law, and public policy

  • Strong research and writing skills

  • A collaborative mindset

  • Curiosity about legal innovation and its social implications

Fellowship Responsibilities

Selected Fellows will engage in:

Newsletter & Editorial Work
Draft and curate content for the AI Collaborative’s platforms, highlighting faculty research, legal tech trends, and student voices.

CLE Research & Program Development
Contribute to Continuing Legal Education (CLE) research and support event development around emerging AI legal issues.

Education resources

Blogging & Publications
Write short articles or blog posts on AI in legal practice, algorithmic fairness, policy changes, and more.

Alumni & Industry Engagement
Help identify alumni in tech law fields, coordinate interviews, and support professional events.

Time Commitment
Fellows are expected to dedicate 3–5 hours per week. The fellowship is remote-friendly, with occasional in-person meetings and events.
