ASEAN Foundation Fully-funded AASEAN-China Youth Exchange Camp at Xiamen University 2024: (Deadline 10 July, 2024)
ASEAN-China Youth Exchange Camp is a collaborative programme between the ASEAN Foundation and the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN through the ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund. It aims to promote the significance and understanding of ASEAN-China relations. During the implementation, ASEAN Foundation will work with Xiamen University as the appointed local organiser.
The programme is designed and dedicated to the talented students from 10 ASEAN countries and China who are keenly interested in fostering ASEAN-China relations. Selected delegates will participate in series of educational and cultural activities in Xiamen and Quanzhou, China from 26 to 31 August 2024.
The varying modes of learning sessions are tailored to provide greater insights into the highlighted topic, “Digital Economy – Fostering ASEAN-China Partnership through Digital Economy Cooperation for Sustainable Economic Growth” as well as furthering and promoting ASEAN-China relations. The sessions aim to equip youths with knowledge and understanding by facilitating (1) a roundtable discussion (plenary session) by inviting experts, academicians, and practitioners through moderated sessions; (2) a series of lectures from professors and academics to deliver proposed topics such as; a) Introduction and History of China, b) introduction of ASEAN and ASEAN-China relations, c) Chinese Economic, Trade & Investment – Belt & Road Initiative, d) China in a Global Context: China as a Superpower and the Chinese Communist Party, e) China Perspectives: South China Sea, and f) Digital Economy and Sustainable Economic Growth; (3) Focus Group Discussions & Group Presentations, to promote people-to-people dialogues and present their findings; (4) Cultural Sessions and (5) Experiential Learning – Visits to Historical and Cultural Sites as well as Institution working for ASEAN-China relations.

Requirements for ASEAN Foundation AASEAN-China Youth Exchange Camp Qualification
Tertiary education students with the following qualifications are eligible to apply:

The ASEAN-China Youth Exchange Camp will be conducted between 26 to 31 August 2024 in Xiamen and Quanzhou, China. Following are the important dates:

- Personal Data
- Professional headshot photo (please ensure your file is in JPG or JPEG format and does not exceed 500 KBs).
- Scanned Passport/ID – biodata page (please ensure your file is in JPG or JPEG format and does not exceed 500 KBs).
- Letter of Recommendation from respective department/faculty/university/education institution(please ensure that your file is in PDF format and does not exceed 500 KBs). This is written in free format on letterhead paper signed by authorised official of your institution verifying: Name, department, faculty, and the current semester you are at.
- List of five most noteworthy personal achievements (please share not more than 5 achievements briefly and concisely, do not write a CV!).
- An individual essay that addresses the following questions in no more than 800 words:
1) What do ASEAN-China relations mean to you? How do you think youth meaningfully engage with the region’s development and create impact?
2) How do you think ASEAN-China relations have an impact on the countries and/or citizens in both regions?
3) What is one important ASEAN regional issue that you think needs to be addressed at the ASEAN-China level? What are some solutions that you would propose to resolve this issue?
