Call for Applications: African Union Media Fellowship 2025 (Deadline: 14 August, 2025)
Applications for the African Union Media Fellowship 2025 are now open. The AU Media Fellowship programme empowers Africans to shape and share their own stories, told by Africans, for Africa and the world.
The AU Media Fellowship 3.0 is guided by three core priorities: producing high-quality, impactful content; ensuring strong alignment with the objectives and institutional frameworks of the African Union; and expanding outreach to maximise the Fellowship’s reach and influence. By balancing these strategic areas, the Fellowship aims to remain sustainable, institutionally anchored, and scalable driving credible storytelling that supports Africa’s development agenda as outlined in Agenda 2063.
Thematic Tracks
In line with the mandates of the African Union and Africa’s development framework, Agenda 2063, the AU Media Fellowship Cohort 3 will focus on 6 thematic tracks which cover various sectoral issues and applicants should ensure their applications are submitted in line with the theme(s) that are of their area of interest and focus under each thematic track.
- Economic Development And Regional Integration
- Emerging Economic Sectors – Sports & Creative Industries
- Agricultural Development & Environment Management
- Promoting Good Governance
- Promoting Africa’s Public Health Systems
- Infrastructure, Technology & Digital Innovation
Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of an African Union member state.
- Journalists, bloggers, podcasters, and digital creators, especially those with newsroom experience.
- Applicants must be 25 years old or above.
- Minimum of 6 years of work in media or content creation.
- Fluency in any AU official language. Working language is English.
- Demonstrated talent, innovation, and impact in media or digital content fields.
