Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) is offering two fully funded PhD positions in Entomology under the DISPEST_2 Project. This initiative is funded by the Belgian Development Cooperation in collaboration with the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA), Belgium. The project focuses on fruit fly pest management in Southeast Africa through predictive modeling and geospatial analysis.

Who can Apply for the PhD Scholarships at Sokoine University of Agriculture?

• Tanzanian citizens.
• Must hold an MSc in a relevant field with a minimum GPA of 3.8/5 (BSc) and 4.0/5 (MSc) from an accredited university.
• Must not exceed 35 years of age as of March 1, 2025.
• Must have applied for or secured admission to a PhD program at SUA.
• Applicants with experience in integrated pest management and tephritid fruit flies will have an advantage.

How are Applicants Selected?

Selection is based on:

• Academic qualifications and research background.
• Experience in fieldwork, data analysis (R programming), and GIS.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Commitment to relocating to Morogoro, Tanzania for the program.
