The Institute for Security Studies (ISS), in partnership with the Robert Bosch Foundation, is proud to announce the launch of the Junior Fellowship Programme on Gender, Human Security and Geopolitics.
This prestigious programme invites young, driven West Africans – especially women – to join a transformative experience in policy research, leadership, and regional collaboration.
Programme Overview
Four selected fellows will spend 10 months in Dakar, working closely with leading African analysts and engaging directly with policymakers. This fellowship is more than training – it’s a launchpad for future leaders in human security and governance.
What Fellows Will Do

Conduct in-depth research on regional security, gender dynamics, and governance challenges

Track and present weekly developments in West African politics and security

Collaborate on reports and articles that shape public discourse and inform policy
-
Participate in seminars, workshops, and dialogues with government and civil society actors
-
Contribute to a dynamic, multicultural research team focused on real-world impact
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

Be a citizen of a West African country
-
Be under 30 years old
-
Hold a Master’s degree in international relations, political science, law, sociology, anthropology, or a related field

Demonstrate strong interest in gender, security, governance, or geopolitics
-
Be fluent in English or French (West African languages are an asset)
-
Be a confident communicator and team player, eager to learn and grow
