The South African Research Chair in Multilevel Government, Law and Development at the Dullah Omar Institute of the University of the Western Cape, and the Centre for Federalism and Governance Studies of Addis Ababa University are delighted to announce the inaugural African School on Decentralisation.
The African School on Decentralisation is the first school on decentralisation in Africa presented by leading international experts on decentralisation from Africa and further afield. The two-week course examines the concepts and practice of decentralisation in African countries from comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives.
The inaugural African School on Decentralisation shall be held in Cape Town between 25th May – 5th June 2020 under the theme ‘Decentralisation and Development in Africa’.
Who can apply?
The course targets applicants with an interest in decentralisation in Africa, including:
- State officials at national, state/provincial and local levels
- Practitioners in multilevel (decentralised) governance systems
- Members of local and international non-governmental organisations
- Post-graduate students and researchers in law, public policy, governance, development, politics and related fields with an interest in decentralisation in Africa.
