
Call for Proposals: Strengthening Community-Based Disaster Risk Management and Resilience in Kenya (Deadline: 1 August, 2025)
Overview
UNDP Kenya invites Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to submit proposals under its Low-Value Grants (LVGs) Programme focused on disaster recovery and resilience building in flood-affected counties, as outlined in the 2024 Kenya Floods Recovery Needs Assessment (KF-RNA).
This initiative is part of the Intra-ACP Natural Disaster Risk Reduction (NDRR) Programme, funded by the 11th European Development Fund (EDF). It supports Outcome 2: Disaster preparedness for effective response and Output 2.2: Strengthened post-disaster recovery capacities, aligned with broader regional and national resilience strategies.
Programme Objective
The main goal of this call is to empower grassroots actors—specifically CBOs and CSOs—to lead localized, community-driven flood recovery initiatives that:

Restore livelihoods

Rebuild essential services and infrastructure

Strengthen local disaster preparedness systems

Promote inclusive, sustainable, and gender-responsive resilience
Focus Areas of the Call
Proposals must focus on at least one of the following areas:

Livelihoods Restoration & Food Security: Support agriculture, livestock, and informal trade recovery, with a focus on women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

Community Infrastructure Rehabilitation: Restore damaged schools, health centers, water, and sanitation systems.

Disaster Preparedness & Risk Reduction: Build early warning systems, increase public awareness, and strengthen community capacity.

Inclusive & Gender-Responsive Recovery: Ensure the participation, protection, and empowerment of marginalized groups, including displaced persons, children, and persons with disabilities.
