Cambridge University Gates Scholarships Award Benefits:

The 2026-27 Cambridge University Gates Scholarship in the UK is a fully free scholarship for international students that will cover all the fees for attending Cambridge University. It also offers extra, ad hoc funding. It pays for the following expenses:

• Composition at the University is charged at the appropriate rate
• A Single Student Maintenance Allowance (£18,744 for 12 months at the 2025-26 rate; pro rata for courses less than 12 months) — for PhD scholars, the grant is for up to 4 years.
• One Economy Round-Trip Airfare Ticket at the start and conclusion of the Course.
• Inbound Visa Fees and the Immigration Health Surcharge
• Funding for Academic Development: Attendance at conferences and seminars may cost anywhere between £500 and £2,000, depending on the duration of your course.
• Family Allowance: Up to £10,944 for a first baby child and £15,612 for a second child (2025-26 rate). A companion receives no funding.
• Fieldwork: You may request to maintain your usual maintenance allowance while doing a PhD.
• Funding for Maternity/Paternity Leave: If you need it, you can request to pause your studies for up to 6 months while still receiving your maintenance stipend.
• Hardship funding is available for unanticipated problems.

Duration of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship:

• 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, and 7 years for a PhD.
