Canadian Government CCI Mobilize Grants Competition 2024: (Deadline 25 April, 2024)

The College and Community Innovation (CCI) program’s Mobilize grants 2024 competition, managed by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, is now open.

Mobilize grants are designed to provide flexibility to accommodate the diverse and unique needs of distinct colleges—whether large or small, urban or rural, and with established or developing research programs. Mobilize grants are intended to provide Canadian colleges with long-term funding that can be applied to single, multiple or institution-wide applied research programs in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities and health sciences fields.

Whether a college is establishing a new applied research program, enhancing an existing program or undertaking a number of short, time-critical applied research projects, Mobilize grants will allow the college to take a strategic and systematic approach in determining the types of resources needed to maximize student training and innovation impacts for its partners. Additionally, a key feature of Mobilize grants is to strengthen connections with research partners and other government-funded innovation support providers.

Aim and Benefits of Canadian Government Mobilize Grants Competition

Mobilize grants provide Canadian colleges with flexible funding to acquire necessary resources to address applied research priorities in industry, health, public and not-for-profit organizations within their community* and to provide applied research training opportunities for students.

Mobilize grants support applied research programs by enabling colleges to:

  • Establish a new applied research program or enhance an existing program
  • Undertake a number of short, time-critical applied research projects
  • Train a diverse pool of college students in applied research focused on partner innovation priorities
  • Strengthen connections with research partners and other government-funded innovation support providers, leading to research collaborations among Canadian colleges; universities; businesses; and public, health and not-for-profit organizations

* Note: Community is defined broadly to include the geographic area where the college’s main stakeholder organizations are located. For most colleges, this is the local geographic area where the partner organization(s) that will receive the research and employ the students are found. In some cases, depending on the college’s context, the geographic area can span multiple provinces.
