CYCLE is a national initiative designed to support and uplift youth aged 18–29 living in Canada—especially those from equity-deserving backgrounds—who are passionate about building a just, sustainable future.

Developed in partnership with EnviroMuslims and Faith & the Common Good, and generously funded by the Catherine Donnelly Foundation and Ummah4Earth, CYCLE responds to the lack of diversity and representation in Canada’s sustainability sector.

Drawing from Diversity in Sustainability’s 2021 report, which highlights that sustainability practitioners of colour often struggle to grow in their careers due to lack of mentorship, access to networks, and systemic barriers, CYCLE was created to actively bridge that gap.

This program brings together emerging leaders across Canada to help them gain real-world experience, connect with mentors and experts, and build the skills they need to drive meaningful change in their communities.

Who Should Apply?

You should consider applying if you are:

• • Between the ages of 18–29
  • Living in Canada
  • Passionate about climate action, environmental justice, or sustainability
  • From an equity-deserving group (Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, newcomer, low-income, or other underrepresented communities)
  • Interested in building leadership, advocacy, or technical skills in the climate space

No prior experience in the environmental field is required. Whether you’re just getting started or already active in your community, CYCLE is designed to meet you where you are.

1. Mentorship and Professional Networking

Get connected with experienced sustainability professionals and mentors who can guide your career journey. Whether you’re seeking insights into green jobs, climate justice organizing, or policy change, this is your chance to learn from people actively working in the field.

2. Interactive Learning and Webinars

Participate in engaging online workshops that go beyond theory. Learn how to take action and build real-world solutions tailored to your community’s needs.

Topics include:

• Technical training in areas like ecosystem restoration and clean energy
• Public speaking and advocacy

3. Access to Policy and Decision-Making Spaces

Engage with local experts, environmental advocates, and policymakers to understand Canada’s unique climate challenges and opportunities. You’ll gain tools to make your voice heard where it matters.

4. Community Leadership Development

CYCLE isn’t just about learning—it’s about leading. You’ll be equipped to take what you learn back to your community and inspire others to join the climate movement.
