Applications are open for the 2025 Global Citizen Waislitz Awards, offering three prestigious prizes of $100,000 each to individuals making a powerful impact in the fight to end extreme poverty. Celebrating its eleventh year, this annual awards program is a partnership between the Waislitz Foundation and Global Citizen. With a total of $300,000 USD in cash prizes, the awards aim to recognize and elevate change-makers whose innovative and scalable solutions are transforming lives around the world.
The Global Citizen Waislitz Awards shine a spotlight on people who are not just dreaming of a better world, but actively building it. Each of the three $100,000 prizes will go to individuals who are tackling the root causes of extreme poverty and driving real, measurable change in their communities and beyond. Winners will also receive global recognition through editorial features and social media spotlights on the Global Citizen platform, helping amplify their voices and solutions to a worldwide audience.
The awards include the Global Citizen Waislitz Prize, given to one outstanding individual based on a holistic evaluation of their work; the Disruptor Award, honoring someone whose innovative approach disrupts the systems that perpetuate poverty; and the Global Citizens’ Choice Award, selected with input from an online vote by the Global Citizen community.
To be considered, applicants must demonstrate how they embody the values of global citizenship, provide at least 1–2 years of proven impact in addressing extreme poverty, showcase innovative disruption, and outline how the award would help scale their efforts. Adaptability and the ability to evolve in changing conditions are also key to the selection process.
Chairman and Founder of the Melbourne-based Waislitz Foundation, Alex Waislitz, emphasizes the mission behind the prize: “Ending extreme poverty is not a choice, it’s an obligation. My hope is that it will inspire many thousands of people around the world to do what they can to improve the living standards of those in dire need.”
