Field of activity
GIZ will support the establishment of a local vaccine production industry as well as the necessary ecosystem and regulatory environment in Rwanda. Rwanda has set itself the goal of establishing itself as a regional or continental center for vaccine production in the medium term. A first investor has already been won and various development organizations have agreed to support the establishment of the ecosystem. As part of a new component of the special initiative Training and Employment, GIZ is planning to support the establishment of vaccine production in Rwanda in the areas of skilled worker training, cooperation with the private sector, quality assurance as well as technology transfer and research. Your tasks
- Contact person for the various actors involved in setting up professional and academic training and further education courses for the pharmaceutical industry, including vaccine production
- Advising the Rwandan partners on the identification of needs in the development of curricula and the introduction of training courses relevant to the pharmaceutical industry; Development and implementation of activities within the framework of the training of specialists for a pharmaceutical industry in Rwanda that is currently being established
- Cooperation with companies in determining the needs of the necessary qualifications as well as integration into professional and academic training and job creation through the expansion of production
- Preparation of a new component as part of the special initiative on the subject of vaccine production with a focus on the areas of specialist training, cooperation with industry, quality assurance as well as technology transfer and research (brief opinion, work proposal and module proposal)
- Formation and expansion of networks and alliances to support local vaccine manufacturing in Africa; Cooperation with other projects and units and coordination of contributions within GIZ and, if necessary, with KfW
- Creation of documents for the preparation of tenders, financing contracts, consulting contracts; Independent support of the contract processes including financial processing; Selection, professional support and quality management of local and international consultants
- Depending on the workload of the activities in the context of vaccine production and preparation of the new component, participation in other topics of the special initiative (focus: cooperation with business)
your profile
- University degree in economics, social sciences, public health, pharmacy or in another subject area relevant to the position
- Several years of international and professional experience and relevant expertise in international development cooperation as well as in the field of vocational training or academic education, in particular with a focus on (training) training measures in the public health / pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Several years of relevant professional experience, preferably acquired abroad, and relevant expertise in project management as well as in advising and cooperating with partner institutions, in particular in the political dialogue on access to vaccines, vaccine production and pharmaceutical products as well as in the involvement of various interest groups
- First professional experience and relevant expertise in the control and quality management of consulting companies and experts, in the development of terms of references, the preparation of documents for drawing up contracts and with GIZ processes
- Ability to structure everyday work independently as well as the ability to successfully carry out a large number of work packages and processes in parallel and taking into account the right setting of priorities; Independent familiarization with new areas of responsibility as well as quick comprehension
- Excellent linguistic and written skills as well as the ability to present complex issues in an understandable manner
- Proficient in German and English
