Digital Humanism Fellowship 2025–2026 – Junior Visiting Research in Vienna: (Deadline 21 September 2025)

The Digital Humanism Fellowship at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna welcomes early-career academics to explore the complex interplay between technology and humanity. The Junior Visiting Fellowship is a fully funded three-month research stay, supporting postdoctoral researchers and doctoral candidates.

Fellowship Details

• Duration: Three consecutive months in Spring 2026. Fellowships typically begin on the first and end on the last day of the month .
• Stipend:
  • Postdoctoral researchers (PhD obtained within 4 years): €3,300/month
  • Doctoral candidates: €2,750/month
    Covers accommodation, living costs, travel, health insurance, and incidental expenses .
• Facilities Provided: Office space with internet, research and administrative support, complimentary lunch, and access to IWM events .

• Eligibility:
  • Open only to Junior Visiting Fellows (postdocs or PhD candidates within four years of defense).
  • Senior fellowships are invitation-only.

  • Researchers across disciplines (humanities, social sciences) who address digitalization’s social, economic, or geopolitical dimensions.

How to Apply

• Submit online via IWM’s portal—email submissions are not accepted .
• Required materials:
  • Motivation letter (including alignment with IWM mission and research goals).
  • Project description (max 550 characters).
  • Full proposal (max 7,500 characters): objectives, literature context, methods, and timeline.
  • CV with publications.
  • Two referees’ recommendation letters (submitted by referees through automated system).
  • Combine all documents into one PDF; filenames must use Latin characters; all materials must be in English
