Enabel is the Belgian development agency. It implements Belgium’s governmental cooperation. The agency also works for other national and international donors. With its partners in Belgium and abroad, Enabel offers solutions to address pressing global challenges – Climate Change, Urbanisation, Human Mobility, Peace and Security, Economic and Social Inequality – and to promote Global Citizenship. With 2,100 staff, Enabel manages about 200 projects in twenty countries, in Belgium, Africa and the Middle East.

We have over 20 years’ experience in areas ranging from education and health care to agriculture, environmental protection, digitalisation, employment and governance. Enabel’s expertise is eagerly sought-after by partners around the globe – ranging from the Belgian government, European Union institutions, governments of other countries and the private sector. We work with civil society, research institutes as well as businesses and we foster fruitful interaction between development policy and other areas.

Enabel is currently implementing a five-year bilateral cooperation program (2024 – 2029), with a total budget of 95 million euros, in three priority development sectors in Rwanda: health, agriculture, urbanization and support in public financial management. Enabel is also implementing many other projects funded by thirst parties (European Union and European development Actors).

To ensure business continuity, Enabel is currently looking for professional Drivers (f/m).

Duty Station:Kigali, Gisagara, Karongi, Rusizi and Nyamasheke(priority is given to those qualified coming from the community of the designated districts). Please indicate the district of interest.

Duration of the contract: Open-ended employment contract – local contract according to the Rwandan labor law

Expected starting date: September 2024

Function:

The driver will ensure transport of people or goods (mail, purchased goods, equipment, missions…) in safely and efficiently manner, on time and to the assigned places in order to promote the image of the organisation and to reflect its values (respect of passengers and road users, respect of regulations, avoidance of uncivil behaviours…).

In general, (s) he will:

• Transport people and goods in order to ensure that people and goods reach the assigned destination safely and on time.
• Keep vehicle in good and well-maintained condition in order to minimize risks of breakdowns and to keep the vehicle in good and cleaned condition for passengers.
• Bring the vehicle to the garage for servicing and maintenance
• Take the vehicle to the technical inspection as required
• Be ready to perform field missions within the assigned districts, and in other districts country wide when needed
• Keep vehicle papers or documents in compliance with the law, internal procedures, etc. in order for the vehicle to be used under existing regulations and to avoid problems in the event of an accident, police check, etc.
• Deliver and pick up mail/correspondence and parcels in order to ensure speedy and effective transmission of information or goods.
• Assist with the execution of small works/jobs in order to help co-workers in executing their tasks (Take care of supplying paper to photocopiers, water to the dispensers, avail glasses … )

Profile:

• Rwandan Citizen;
• Minimum a A2 level diploma (Completion of secondary school)
• Rwandan Driving License class B and D;
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in similar position within either a public organization/ funded project, international organization or a highly recognized private organization.
• Certificate in Mechanics an added advantage
• Good oral communication in Kinyarwanda and English; French will be an asset
• Seasoned, organized and mature personality
• Be of proven moral integrity. and punctuality.
• Show engagement, sense of responsibility and integrity (proactive).
• Readiness to work in the field
• Ability to work under pressure and in a team, with flexibility.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work in an international, multi-stakeholder environment, maintain effective and cooperative relations
• Able to fit in a collaborative governance mindset (Self responsible, accountable, authentic communication …)
