Fellowship Opportunities in the U.S. – William and Hannah Penn Fellowship: (Deadline 14 march, 2025)

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking talented and passionate individuals dedicated to public service. This fellowship provides aspiring professionals with the opportunity to work alongside top executive leaders in state government, contributing to impactful policy initiatives that improve the lives of Pennsylvanians.

Fellows will be placed in state agency policy offices, where they will support policy directors and agency leaders in advancing Governor Shapiro’s policy agenda. Each fellow will work on an agency-specific project, gaining hands-on experience in public policy implementation. Additionally, fellows will participate in leadership development training and engage with leaders from both the public and private sectors.

Program Details

• Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States
• Start Date: Monday, August 11, 2025 (in-person attendance required on the first day)
• Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (exact hours discussed upon offer)
• Telework: Part-time remote work may be available, subject to secure internet access and work location approval within Pennsylvania. If telework is not an option, fellows must report to the headquarters office.
• Relocation: No relocation reimbursement or payment is provided.
• Salary: $75,658.00 Annually. In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Fellowship Projects

As a William and Hannah Penn Fellow, participants will contribute to the effectiveness of state government by working on one of eight projects aligned with Governor Shapiro’s policy priorities. Fellows will be assigned to agency policy offices, gaining hands-on experience in policy development and implementation.

Applicants will be asked to indicate their top three project preferences during the application process. While preferences will be considered, placement is not guaranteed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• A master’s degree or higher obtained between December 2020 and August 2025.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

• Strong academic or professional achievement.
• Proven leadership ability and potential for future growth.
• Commitment to public service.
• Experience working in diverse teams and effective collaboration.
