We Do GREEN is a legally registered, youth-founded, and youth-led environmental NGO operating on Rwanda’s territory since 2018. The organization mission is to involve youth while leaving no one behind in the works towards the protection of our environment, the adaptation, and mitigation to climate change.

Vacancy

WDGO is currently seeking a qualified Finance and Administration officer. The finance and administration officer will be 80% handling finances, 15% administration and 5% public relations.  The finance and administration officer works with the Project Coordinator and Events Organizer to support WDGO to ensure compliance to WDGO policies and procedures as well as donor(s) finance procedures, regulations and guidelines. The finance officer will be in charge of executing all financial and accounting operations related tasks, and produce internal and external reports.

Summary of the Position:

  • Have overall responsibility for financial management including planning, financial budgeting, organizing, controlling and monitoring and or oversight of the financial resources of an organization to achieve objectives and meet donor requirements.
  • Produce the accurate monthly financial report(s), quarterly financial progress report(s) and annual unaudited financial report of the project as per partner(s) guidelines, share and discuss with management and board prior to reporting to donor(s).
  • Conduct monthly cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinator and Events Organizer to ensure proper, standardized and transparent processes and procedures.
  • Together with Project Coordinator, conduct monthly budgets against expenditure analysis and take measures to rectify budget lines deviations.
  • Ensure that expenditures remain within the budget.
  • Ensure that expenditures are only for the purposes set out in the budget.
  • Ensure that financial documentation, including quotations, invoices and receipts are collected and filed in an orderly manner.
  • Processing payments in accordance with WDGO and donor(s) policies and procedures (specifically all payments that require cheques such as travel advances, advances for urgent payments, etc…).
  • Support WDGO project/programme audits and provides the required information for successful completion.
  • Participate in donors reporting, partners audit-related work, and maintain good relationships with donor(s).
  • Management of Petty cash. Under this role, you will be the cash box custodian.
  • Assist in the procurement of goods and services.
  • Documents internal control weaknesses and compliance and recommend appropriate ways to address these weaknesses.
  • Identify capacity building gaps within key staff and recommend training
  • Ensure compliance with tax and labor laws.
  • Support with some HR functions.
  • Support with some PR functions.
  • Any other task assigned by the Project Coordinator.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in accounting/Finance
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience and demonstrated success in effectively handling finances. Having a previous experience in similar positions in an NGO or INGO is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and compliance
  • Experience in managing co-operation and partnerships with NGOs, INGOs, or the like.
  • Experience in administrative procedures, HR management, procurement, PR, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in fundraising and maintaining good donor relations.
  • Demonstrated skills in using financial management software.
