The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) would like to recruit self-motivated and qualified candidates to fill the following positions.

POSITION: FLORICULTURE VALUE CHAIN SPECIALIST

job Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop sciences, agro economics, agriculture engineering, horticulture or Crop production with a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the related field

Or

· Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop sciences, Crop production with three (3) years working experience in the same field.

Job Description

Under the direct supervision of Emerging Commodities Division Manager, the Floriculture Value Chain Specialist will perform the following duties & Responsibilities:

· Identifying and advising on appropriate knowledge transfers on flowers production technologies and practices for adoption;

· Conducting capacity building training, seminars, workshops and mentoring of flowers farmers in new production and handling techniques;

· Supporting producers adopt the Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) in production of flowers for export market;

· Coordinating with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure provision of appropriate extension services suitable for export production;

· Linking the flowers producers to the agro-inputs services providers.

· Creating and facilitating linkages with local authorities and other relevant institutions to support the increase of flowers production for export.

· Be a link between flowers producers and divisions, private players, extension services, inputs service providers.

· Identifying and advising on appropriate knowledge transfers on flowers production technologies and practices for adoption;

· Plan sustainable flowers production for export, managing risks related production and post-harvest handling.

Strong ability to develop marketing plans and strategies for flowers and to work towards their realization and improvement under demanding performance schedules;

· Excellent skills in production, post-harvest handling of flowers for export;

· Excellent time management, administrative and organizational skills;

· Excellent skills in office productivity software;

· Ability to work successfully individually and as part of a team;

· Ability to work calmly under pressure with flexible attitude to work;

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills (both French and English);

· Organization and planning skills;

· Problem analysis and solving skills;

· Team leadership;

· Formal presentation skills;

· Persuasiveness, adaptability, and innovation;

· Good in judgement and decision-making skills;

· Fluent in English and/or French.
