Applications are open for the Cross Border Jobs Startup Competition 2025, launched by the Jobtech Alliance to support bold and innovative startups building responsible solutions for African labour mobility. This initiative aims to identify and empower startups that are creating safer, fairer, and scalable pathways for Africans seeking cross-border employment opportunities across the continent and beyond.

Through this competition, Jobtech Alliance seeks to spotlight digital and tech-enabled businesses that help connect African workers to opportunities abroad or across borders, improve job-matching systems, and offer vital support services such as language training, compliance support, housing, and financial solutions.

Program Benefits

Winners of the competition will receive USD $10,000 in grants each, alongside access to up to $200,000 worth of technology perks and resources. In addition, successful startups will benefit from mentorship, networking opportunities, and ongoing support from Jobtech Alliance and its partners, including LaMP, IOM, and Tech Safari. The competition also offers visibility and potential access to follow-on funding for startups demonstrating exceptional potential and impact.

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to registered startups that provide cross-border labour mobility solutions for Africans. Eligible ventures may operate in areas such as worker recruitment, placement, or support services for migrants. Both early-stage and growth-stage startups are encouraged to apply, provided they demonstrate a clear commitment to responsible labour practices and ethical recruitment. Startups should have at least a prototype, pilot, or early evidence of traction in the market.
