Applications are now open for the LawAI Summer Fellowship 2026 in the USA. It is a Fully Funded Fellowship and is open to applicants from all around the world. The Institute for Law & AI (LawAI) is offering a Paid Summer Fellowship to law students, professionals, and academics to work on research projects related to AI law and policy. The Objective of the LawAI Fellowship is to train fellows in Artificial Intelligence and to ensure that the advances in artificial intelligence are beneficial and safe for everyone. Fellows will work under the mentors and engage with policymakers, researchers, and other leaders in the field. This is a 10-week, remote-first fellowship beginning on June 15 and concluding on August 21. The program features an in-person week (June 22–26) hosted in either Washington, D.C., or Berkeley, CA. About the Institute of LawAI
The Institute for Law & AI (LawAI) is an independent think tank that wants to make sure that AI is used safely and fairly. They work with governments, international organizations, and businesses to understand the legal issues around AI and suggest ways to solve them.
As a Summer Research Fellow, you’ll work with a mentor to create a research project that suits your background and interests in AI law and policy.
Fellowship Structure

Eligibility Criteria
- The Fellowship is open to all the Nationals.
- Applications from people with different backgrounds and levels of experience in AI law and policy.
- You don’t need to be an expert in AI research.
- The Past Fellows were from the following backgrounds:

- Professionals transitioning into the field
