The Woods Hole Summer Internship is a highly sought-after, fully funded 10-week program open to international students from all over the world. Every year, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) selects 25-30 talented students to join the program, providing them with an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in oceanographic research. The internship typically takes place from late May to mid-June 2025, although the exact dates are still to be finalized.
There is no application fee for this program, and all expenses, including travel, accommodation, and meals, are covered by the internship. The program is open to students from a wide range of academic disciplines, allowing individuals with diverse backgrounds to apply. Preference is given to students studying in any of the fields of:
- Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Physics, Oceanography, Marine Policy, and other related fields.
- Applicants should have a keen interest in ocean sciences, oceanographic engineering, or marine policy.
Eligibility for Woods Hole
- The Woods Hole Summer Fellowship is open to all International students.
- Applicants must be undergraduate students who will have completed their junior year by the start of the fellowship.
- Graduates are not eligible.
- Students in a three-year Bachelor’s program should be in their second year.
- Those in a five-year combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program should be in their third year.
