Applications are now open for the ESO Internship Program 2026 in Germany. This fully funded six-month internship is available to international students from around the world. ESO internships are offered in various fields, including science, engineering, communication, administration, physics, astronomy, software, and IT. The program provides valuable experience in a world-class scientific environment, allowing participants to contribute to research projects and learn about the ESO organization. There is no application fee. Interns will be based at the ESO office in Garching, near Munich, Germany. ESO covers travel, accommodation, and living expenses.   • Preferred Candidates: Students currently studying or recent graduates with a university degree in:

      • Engineering
      • Science Journalism
    International student loans
  • Astronomy Knowledge: Interns should possess a broad knowledge and interest in basic astronomy, including topics like:
    • Stargazing
    • How telescopes work
    • Key astronomical objects
  • Language Skills: Good knowledge of both English and German is required.
