HessenFonds Scholarship for Refugees and Researchers in Germany 2025: (Deadline 10 December, 2024)
The HessenFonds Scholarship, funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts and implemented by the World University Service (WUS), supports refugee students, doctoral candidates, and researchers at Hessian state universities in Germany. It provides financial assistance to enable them to continue their studies or academic careers.

The Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts is a university and culture ministry in Hesse, Germany. Since January 2019, the minister has been Angela Dorn-Rancke. Aim and Benefits of Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture HessenFonds Scholarship for Refugees and Researchers
The HessenFonds scholarship grants the following amounts for the duration of 12 months:
- Students (Bachelor/Master or equivalent): 300 Euro/month
- PhD Students: 1.200 Euro/month
- Researchers: 2.300 Euro/month
Requirements for Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture HessenFonds Scholarship for Refugees and Researchers Qualification
- Refugee students, doctoral candidates, and researchers enrolled or with accepted research/doctoral positions at Hessian state universities, holding asylum seeker or recognized refugee status.
- Open to all fields of study and research available at Hessian state universities.

Selection is based on academic achievement and institutional support. Applicants must apply through refugee coordinators or international offices at Hessian state universities.
How to Apply
Applications have to be submitted to the respective state university in Hessen. Please inquire at an early stage when the application documents have to be submitted to the responsible office of the university.
The universities nominate qualified candidates for the scholarships to the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture. A direct application at the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture is not possible.The next deadline for nominations of the candidates by the universities is the 10th of December 2024.
