Applications are open for the IARC Summer School 2025 in France. It is a fully funded 5-day training program taking place in Lyon, France. This Summer School in France is open to the nationals of all the countries. People from Low-income and Middle-income countries will receive Support and Funding towards Travel expenses, accommodation, and Fee waivers. The IARC Summer School aims to invite participants who are working, studying, and doing research in cancer prevention and control to enhance their knowledge and skills. This program will focus on the causes of cancer, and how to control it. The IARC Summer School consists of 2 to 4 weeks of online training and then 5 days of in-person training in France. Modules of the Summer School

There are two modules and participants can apply in ONE Module only.

  • Introduction to Cancer Epidemiology: This course will focus on the practical application of epidemiological principles and methods to various cancer control activities, mainly targeting the search for the causes of cancer.
  • Implementing Cancer Prevention and Early Detection: This course will provide a broad perspective on principles, concepts, issues, and practices of cancer prevention, early detection, and program implementation.

Financial Benefits

Selected Participants from Low-income, or Lower Middle-income countries will receive the:

  • Travel Expenses
  • Living Expenses
  • Fee Waiver

Participants from Middle-Income Countries will receive:

  • Living Expenses Only.

  • The practical application of epidemiological principles and methods to various cancer control activities.
  • The search for causes of cancer.
  • The implementation and evaluation of control programs.

Module on Implementing Cancer Prevention and Early Detection:

  • Cancer Control Overview
  • Cancer risk factors and prevention strategies/approaches
  • Principles and implementation of screening programs

Targeted People

People from Cancer registry staff, epidemiologists, statisticians, physicians, oncologists, public health specialists, postgraduate students, and others with a direct interest in working in cancer epidemiology, cancer registration, and activities related to cancer control can apply.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizens of all countries can apply.
  • Participants can attend only one module.
  • All participants must be fluent in English.
  • Scholarship Priority is given to applicants from low- and medium-resource countries.
