FINANCE INTERN
Overview
Spark MicroGrants is a young, rapidly scaling organization pioneering a new approach to international aid. Spark proactively reaches out to rural poor villages and helps community members to design, implement and manage their own social impact projects. Since July 2010 we have mobilized over 180 communities in east Africa to manage social impact projects including schools, community farms, electricity lines and more. We currently have offices in Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi.
Job Description
The finance intern will support in facilitating the efficient and effective financial operation of Spark Microgrants Musanze Office operation. She/he will ensure compliance with the organization operations policies, procedures, guidelines and rules.

Key Responsibilities
Assist to implement and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions by physical filing and uploading into the accounting system
Assist during monthly budget preparations and financial forecasts
Prepare vouchers for Cash and Bank payments
Ensure completeness and correctness of documents before any payment is made
Assist with month-end close process
Maintain organizational asset register and ensure timely maintenance of office equipments
Run the daily operational needs: procuring goods and paying service providers, organizing various workshops and trainings, proactively organizing for Musanze office needs
Any other duties assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration
Minimum of 1year of relevant professional experience in an NGO setting with significant knowledge and experience of all core financial management activities including accounts payable, cash management, budget development and statutory requirements (particularly related to Rwandan Standards)
Strong technical and organizational skills in additional to excellent written and verbal communication skills in a professional environment
High level of integrity, accuracy and confidentiality
Proficiency in numeracy skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimum supervision
Computer literate (MS word & excel and accounting package like Quickbook)
Ability to meet deadlines and work cooperatively with team members
English and Kinyarwanda fluency required
This is an intern role. Applicants should not expect a salary. However, a stipend for communication, transport and field related costs are covered by Spark.
