Internship Program for communication and knowledge management at Global Green Growth Institute: (Deadline 28 May 2024)
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
- Possess excellent command of English and knowledge of Kinyarwanda.
QUALIFICATION
- Enrolled/Recently graduated in Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD program in Communication Studies, Public Relations, International Relations, Development Studies, Media Studies/Mass Communication and Environmental Studies.
- Be engaged (or recently engaged) in academic study in a field related to the work.
- Demonstrated knowledge on green growth, environmental science, and sustainable development.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships with government and private sector counterparts.
- Outstanding research and analytical skills, including strong ability to analyze, integrate and summarize information from a wide range of sources.
- Proven computer literacy in office software applications, as well as willingness to learn new tools, especially tools relevant for design, editing and visualization of content.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly writing and/or editing experience in one or more fields related to green growth.
- Ability to work/deliver under time pressure and ensure high-quality deliverables within allocated timeframe.
- Strong creativity, attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds and time zones.
- Previous internships or relevant extracurricular activities in green growth can also enhance a candidate’s qualifications for such a position.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
- GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
- Due to high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
Working Hours: Interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
Learning Outcomes: Before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
Certificate: Provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the GGGI Rwanda Country Program to provide support on all communications activities and knowledge sharing activities for the country program; support the communications officer in the implementation of strategic communication plans, designs, documents, reports, events, media engagement, public relations, and marketing.
The assignment will include the following but not limited to:
- Document the process of greening the airport and disseminate experiences and learnings with other African countries aiming to develop green airports and other large-scale infrastructure projects. This knowledge sharing product will be readily available for country teams aiming to work on similar large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Support on digital communication channels: social media, GGGI communication of project milestone, field missions etc.
- Support in the design and graphics of all knowledge products, online materials, campaign materials.
- Support on public relations communication: events, invitations, and information dissemination.
- Contribute to content development, writing and editing of communication materials.
- Support in the translation of communication materials and other related materials, when necessary, from English to Kinyarwanda with French translation as an added asset.
- Support in the development of audiovisual materials.
- Assist in developing regular media monitoring reports.
- Support in editing and co-drafting minutes of meetings, workshops, and other memos.
- Ensure the consistent integration of gender equality and social inclusion in all communication and knowledge sharing interventions.
- Adhere to all GGGI visual, branding, and safeguarding guidelines in all communication and knowledge sharing products and interventions.
- Stay informed about emerging communication trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Any other related tasks to support with Communications.
