Scholarship Coverage

    • Tuition Fees Online learning platforms
      Grantees may be exempted from the payment of enrollment and tuition fees depending on the policy of each University. Exemption is not granted for courses in Italian language and culture, for which enrollment fees are due.
  • Financial Grant
    Grantees will get a monthly allowance of 900 Euros. This will be paid every three months to their Italian bank account.

Eligibility Criteria for Italian Government Scholarship 2025

The following are the eligibility criteria for the Italian Government Scholarship for International Students:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: Students from eligible foreign countries
  • Master’s Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) Programs & Italian Language and Culture Courses:
    • Applicants must be under 28 years old at the time of the application deadline, except for renewal cases.
    • Only foreign students residing outside Italy are eligible.
  • PhD Programs:
    • Candidates must not exceed 30 years of age by the deadline, with renewals being the only exception.
    • Applicants must meet the entry requirements set by the Italian university and provide a letter of acceptance.
  • Research Projects with Academic Supervision:
    • Applicants must be 40 years old or younger by the application deadline.
    • A language proficiency certificate in English (minimum B2 level under the CEFR) is mandatory.
    • Research projects must be conducted under the supervision of public universities, museums, or archives.
  • Academic Qualifications and Language Proficiency:
    • To enroll in the first year of a Master’s Degree program, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree from their home country. Continuation to the second year requires satisfactory academic performance in the first year.
    • Applicants for Italian Language and Culture courses must provide proof of proficiency in Italian (minimum A2 level under CEFR).
    • Proof of proficiency in Italian is not required for programs entirely taught in English.
  • Admission to AFAM Institutes and PhD Programs:
    • For AFAM Institutes, candidates must meet the specific entry requirements of the respective institution.
    • PhD applicants must meet university-specific criteria and submit an acceptance letter from the host institution.
  • Research Grants:
    • Grants are available for research projects conducted at Italian research institutions under academic supervision. Prominent research institutions include:
      • Italian Research Council (CNR)
      • Italian National Institute of Health (ISS)
      • Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN)
      • Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF)
      • Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA)
