Job title : Senior Program Manager, Partnerships and Communications (full-time contractor position for a 1-year period)

Job purpose
Carnegie Mellon University Africa is seeking a Senior Program Manager, Partnerships and Communications, who is a seasoned professional that can provide leadership and operational oversight for developing and strengthening strategic partnerships for the university to support industry engagement, foundation relations, as well as other relationships based on the evolving needs of the university.
Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a top-ranked U.S. university known particularly for research and graduate education in engineering and computer science. In 2011, CMU signed a 10-year agreement with the Government of Rwanda to open a branch of its College of Engineering in Kigali known as Carnegie Mellon University-Africa in Rwanda (CMU-Africa). Offering two master’s degrees, the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) and the Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MS ECE), CMU-Africa now has 145 alumni and over 130 current students from 15 countries.
As CMU-Africa’s Senior Program Manager, Partnerships and Communications, you will be providing strategic leadership, as well as overseeing day to day operations in marketing, communications, student recruitment, and career and alumni services as critical components that drive the success of its master’s programs.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
• Providing strategic and operational oversight to existing partner programs such as the Mastercard Foundation’s Scholars Program, Leaders in Teaching Initiative, and the Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning in ICT;
• Supporting the advancement strategy led by CMU’s College of Engineering by identifying and cultivating potential development partners in Africa;
• Developing and strengthening industry relationships to support the academic program, and providing supervision to the career and alumni services function to ensure a strong pipeline of employment opportunities for students and graduates;
• Providing strategic and operational oversight to our marketing and communications function to ensure CMU-Africa’s brand awareness is strong and widely recognized across target markets, and ultimately, serving the priorities of the university; and
• Providing strategic and operational oversight to the student recruitment function to ensure there is a strong, diverse and growing pipeline of talent coming into our master’s programs.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in business administration, education or a relevant field, with 5 years of experience leading and managing a team
•Master’s degree in business administration, education, or a relevant field
•Demonstrated expertise and established networks in higher education and the private sector within Rwanda and across Africa
• Proven experience in effectively engaging senior executives to build long-standing
business relationships
•Strong organizational skills with excellent prioritization and attention to detail
•Excellent written and oral communication
•Professional maturity with the ability to adapt to diverse cultures and contexts with empathy and sound judgment
