Responsibilities

 

Job Summary

 

 

-Responsible for ensuring the constant availability of accurate and current financial information, and financial resources, in line with SouthBridge’s business objectives

-Responsible for financial operations of the Group, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, budgets and metrics tied to that strategy, the ongoing development and monitoring of results versus the plans and budgets, tax planning and administration, planning, administering and overseeing intra-group activities

-Responsible for developing and implementing control systems designed to preserve Group assets and report accurate financial results

-Responsible for all administrative aspects of the Group, including IT, staffing, facilities management, purchasing, logistics, company secretarial and legal.

 

 

 

 

Principal duties and responsibilities

 

Oversee and champion the development and implementation of the Group’s financial strategy, budgets, and cash management, ensuring alignment with the Group’s corporate strategy, business goals and objectives
Ensure the implementation of an effective and efficient group-wide, financial and management account and control system
Oversee and champion all IT, administrative, corporate secretarial and, in conjunction with the appropriate Partner(s), legal and HR activities of the Group
Identify risks and long-term financial implications of intended corporate projects/initiatives, and advise the Partners and Board accordingly
Authorise expenditure/transactions in line with the Group’s approved authority limits
Coordinate timely preparation of the Group’s financial statements and management accounts, ensuring the statements reflect each company’s and the Group’s financial position and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements

Manage the interface between the Group, external auditors, tax authorities and regulators to ensure the Group’s financial interests are protected
Provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information for strategic decision making
Evolve and implement robust cost management strategies to monitor and control costs Group-wide
Coordinate the development of SouthBridge’s corporate budget, and the allocation/distribution of financial resources. Ensure management and adequacy of Group’s capital. Monitor and report performance against the budget as well as develop and operate a performance management system
Oversee all staff concerned with finance, administration company secretarial, legal and HR. Including recruitment, day-to-day management, performance management, mentoring and training
Periodically review key SouthBridge’s finance activity and performance reports and take appropriate action to ensure the Group’s business objectives are achieved
Maintain financial responsibility for the Group’s assets in terms of accounts, valuation, loss protection etc
Develop framework for delegation of authority on financial issues i.e. develop, administer and manage the financial manual of authorities
Enforce corporate governance policies and ensure compliance with financial manual of authorities in corporate financial decision-making
Support the CEO in communicating the activities and achievements of the Group to all relevant stakeholders
Prepare and submit periodic management reports on the activities of the division for Partners’ and Board decision making
Continually review and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the Group’s financial policies, procedures and processes and identify improvement opportunities
Champion and oversee the implementation of improvement recommendations after obtaining all necessary approvals from Partners or the Board
Plan and coordinate administrative procedures and systems and devise ways to streamline processes
Act on behalf of, and perform other duties as assigned by the CEO or Partners

 

Qualifications

 

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

 

Hands on experience in financial planning and analysis
Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in-depth understanding of international and host country accounting and financial reporting standards, including IFRS [and Ohada]
Excellent understanding of the local and global financial industry
Understanding of trends and recent developments in accounting for financial institutions
Up-to-date knowledge of SouthBridge’s products and services
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
Strong business acumen, maturity and tact, including the ability to relate with highest levels of management of financial institutions and financers
Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and high level of integrity
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
Proven ability to interpret financial statements and apply a broad perspective in summarising results
Commendable level of attention to detail
Demonstrated sense of ownership and ability to follow through projects
Good business presentation skills
Ability to multi-task and function effectively under pressure
Strong leadership and people management skills
Timeliness and accuracy of management information reporting
Effective oversight of Finance, Administration, Legal and HR functions
Effectiveness and security of Group/s IT stsyems
Effective management of regulatory and tax issues
Internal customer satisfaction levels
Timeliness of financial statements for external auditors
First degree, preferably in Accounting or a related discipline
Professional accounting certification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or other relevant higher business degree with proven analytical and qualitative accounting/ finance competencies
Working experience in products offered by the Company
Experience in the oversight of administrative
Fluency in English and French
