JOB PURPOSE

To provide efficient and safe transportation of authorized personnel and/or commodities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Field Office, the incumbent shall perform the following duties:

1. Provide transportation of authorized personnel including translation of basic conversations from/to the local language, and/or delivery of various items/commodities following authorized routing and UN safety and security rules and regulations to ensure safe and efficient services.
2. Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport or other entry points and provide basic assistance with visa and customs formalities to facilitate smooth and safe entry and arrival to the authorised destinations.
3. Responsible for accurate maintenance of the vehicle log books, and daily reporting to the supervisor on mechanical status, to ensure efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption supporting accurate accounting and cost-efficiency.
4. Responsible that the assigned vehicle is kept clean and in a good condition including all equipment, the maintenance is done on time, vehicle is fully equipped with required travel authorisations and supplies, and any mechanical issues are reported to the supervisor to ensure safe and efficient services.
5. Follow established rules and regulations for field deliveries and/or in cases of an accident, and report immediately to the supervisor on any apparent problems, to seek for instructions and facilitate informative decisions on the way forward.


6. Outside driving duties, perform basic office related tasks such as filing, photocopying and maintaining stores when required including delivery/collection of various items, mailing service and payment of office telephone and other bills to ensure administrative support to clients.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. Formal drivers training with a valid driver’s license/certification to operate assigned vehicle following local rules and regulations.

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

Experience: Two or more years of work experience as a Driver, preferably in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a demonstrated safe driving record. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans, trucks and other kinds of motorised vehicles. Experience in defensive driving is desirable.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge & Skills:

• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads/waterways and conditions, and security issues.
• Knowledge of the vehicle loading capacity and other parameters.

JOB PURPOSE

To coordinate and guide Information Technology maintenance and support activities to enable the effective delivery of IT services.

Under the overall supervision of the Head of IT and the direct supervision of the IT officer, the incumbent  will perform the following duties:

1. Carry out system and hardware maintenance tasks, such as running specialised network monitoring and system protection, to ensure technology is running effectively.
2. Monitor technology reliability, identify user needs, analyse data and produce accurate reports in order to recommend IT solutions to support informative decision-making.
3. Resolve queries independently, escalating if required, to ensure that standard IT questions are answered and accurate information is provided to staff.
4. Provide standard technical training to end users of commonly used technology and systems, in order to assist WFP staff in conducting their work.
5. Provide guidance and training to junior colleagues in the delivery of IT support services to support the capability building of staff.
6. Support the co-ordination of new application implementation in order to provide WFP staff with the tools they need to perform effectively.

8. Implement improvements to methods and processes within the IT division in order to support the continuous improvement of IT services provided.

JOB PURPOSE

 

To manage the overall WFP markets and price analysis in the country as well as perfom food security analysis and reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Under the direct supervision of Head of VAM, the incumbent will carry out the following duties:

 

  • Plan, design and conduct market related assessments and surveys to inform programming and management decision.
  • Conduct cost-efficiency analysis for cash-based programming.
  • Provide market information and technical advice to the CO CBT task force;
  • Design market monitoring systems for market based interventions.
  • Assess staff training needs and provide markets and price monitoring training to field staff and partners as required.
  • Participate in inter-agency markets and food security activities and assessments providing inputs for the development of market information sections (Joint Assessment and Monitoring).
  • Participate in internal and external food security meetings and coordination forums.
  • Present assessment findings to WFP colleagues, Government, donors and cooperating partners.
  • Coordinate data collection on market prices and commodities traded in the main and remote markets of the country.
  • Liaise with national and international institutions/agencies that are involved in addressing as well as collecting market and price data.
  • Periodically review and develop market data collection tools, formats and guidelines for assessments, monitoring and baseline studies.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly price updates for the CO, Regional Bureau and Headquarters as required.
  • Conduct regular secondary data review and write monthly market and food security bulletins.
  • Support the implement of the new CBT monitoring tools including the reporting activities on CBT.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Statistics, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Language: International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language. knowledge of French is an added value.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Strong knowledge of food security analysis and the data collection, treatment, and manipulation
techniques typically associated with it. Advanced computer skills, including at least intermediate skills in
windows based word processing, spreadsheet, database and GIS applications. Working knowledge of basic
statistics.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

 

At least three years of postgraduate professional experience in food security, vulnerability analysis, development, national aspects of national bilateral or multilateral food assistance or a closely related area.

Advanced knowledge in  statistical analysis software. Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative survey techniques.

Experience in the design and implementation of food aid programmes.

Some experience in remote sensing interpretation and analysis, NDVI, WRSI.

Experience in working with International NGOs, UN Agencies and Government Institutions

JOB PURPOSE

To coordinate, monitor and support the implementation of WFP food assistance at Kirehe Field Office, in close collaboration with the implementing partners.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the supervision of the Head of Kirehe Field Office, the Monitoring Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:

General:

 

  • Perform specialized and/or standardised processes and activities within the specific technical area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
  • Provide project management and/or general office support following established targets and WFP’s policies and procedures.
  • Within the specific area of responsibility, compile data and support analysis and preparation of reports (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) in order to support operational decision-making.
  • Perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. food security and vulnerability assessments) following corporate standards and guidelines.
  • Work and exchange information with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Support communication and activities with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolution of general operational queries requesting assistance where necessary.
  • Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.Specific:
  • Prepare monthly food requirements and food release notes for the supported activities, monitor the implementation of the food assistance, assist in the implementation of the food distribution, review and document the achievements, identify constraints and provide feedback accordingly;

  • Compile data and support analysis and preparation of reports (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) to support operational decision-making;
  • Liaise with other UN agencies and implementing partners involved in implementing activities at the field office level, including participation on behalf of WFP in inter-agency and sector meetings;
  • Report periodically to the Head of Field Office on relevant events regarding food management, distribution and other related issues; Identify any apparent issues in the programme and report them to the appropriate personnel;
  • Provide technical support to the implementing partners, support, supervise and train field partners’ personnel as appropriate;

Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans, trucks and other kinds of motorised vehicles. Experience in defensive driving is desirable.

WFP is looking for a qualified and dynamic person to fill the position of Monitoring Assistant to oversee cash, food and nutrition assistance in Kiziba refugee camp.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Under the overall supervion of the National Programme Officer, the incumbent shall perform the following duties:

  • Monitor the planned movements and distribution of cash and food, resolving routine issues and escalating where appropriate, to ensure that the quantity distributed and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards.
  •  Collect and summarize data, collaborating with cooperating partners where required, conduct analysis and prepare reports in order to support programme reviews and informative decision-making.
  • Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services.
  • Suggest improvements to field monitoring processes and procedures for efficient implementation of the assistance programmes.
  • Arrange for regular meetings with community leaders and cooperating partners on commodity pipeline, distribution arrangements, food entitlements and other relevant issues to support effective communication flow and efficient operations.
  • Collect weekly market prices of food commodities to inform the value of food basket allocated to refugees.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of an undergraduate degree in the related functional area..
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language (English or French). The knowledge of both is an added value. Fluency in Kinyarwanda.

Experience: At least five years of progressively work experience including at least three years in the field of programme operations

JOB PURPOSE

WFP is now seeking qualified and dynamic Rwandan nationals to fill the following positon to support the mobile vulnerability analysis and mapping operations for piloting and maintaining various 2-way communications tools such as Free Basics and Interactive Voice Response (IVR).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under overall supervision of the VAM Officer, the Programme Assistant mVAM and two way communication shall perform the following duties:

Support on communication with beneficiaries/affected population

    • Responsible for piloting and maintaining various 2-way communications tools such as Free Basics and IVR.
    • Communicate with different units to discuss what information to share with affected population, feasibility of sharing, what tools to use.
    • Lead outreach activities with refugee communities. Carry out regular visits to refugee camps to sensitize affected population on WFP information sharing tools. Conduct troubleshooting and facilitate focus group discussions to get feedback.
    • Support the roll out of Free Basics website. Maintain the website and upload data using the Content Management System.
    • Support the implementation of an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) communications system.
    • Advertise and promote diverse 2-way communication tools such as Free Basics and IVR to increase the reach.
    • Review content of outreach messages for appropriateness in the local context. Help translate messages from English into Kinyarwanda.
    • Liaise with government, UN and NGO representatives working in the same communities and promote coordination.



  • Liaise with local IT service providers and hardware providers to ensure project materials are available on a timely basis.
  • Submit monthly progress reports detailing achievements against milestones. Document learning about the project.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are adhered to, with specific reference to terms of protection, data security and privacy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A completion of University degree in the related functional area is desirable.

Under the overall supervion of the Head of Field Office, the incumbent shall perform the following duties:

    • Support processing and managing routine administrative and financial tasks in various functional areas, to contribute to the effective and timely management of resources.
    • Compile the weekly travel plans and assign drivers for each travel requisition
    • Ensure the field office vehicles are well maintained, clean and manage fuel




  • Prepare the petty cash expenditures requests and provide monthly petty cash reports
  • Supervise the cleaners and security guards with support from the head of field office
  • Respond to queries and escalate where appropriate, in order to provide  timely and adequate service to clients.
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance of the field office assets, conduct monthly inventory.
  • Provide guidance on routine business support methods and practices to other colleagues to ensure services are delivered consistently to the required standards.
  • Work with a variety of individuals, taking on feedback where appropriate to assist in business support delivery for staff.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
