JOB AT BANK OF KIGALI : SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR : ( Deadline : 03 April 2019 )

 

Business Unit

 

IT Database Unit

 

Key Accountabilities

Maintain the company’s database systems including performance tuning, monitoring critical events, back-up/restore, archiving and documentation.
Manage production, QA and development database environments.
Create and manage multiple databases running on different DBMS including Oracle, MS SQL server, MySql, NoSql DB.
Monitor database systems and troubleshoot problems that may arise.
Maintain data integrity and security by properly managing roles and permissions of database users.
Use advanced tools for database tuning, generate traces, review execution plans, identify performance issues, deadlocks/contention and resolve them.
Ensure regular data protection, data back-ups, data restoration and data replication are carried out on regular basis.
Support software developers with database operations including development of complex and optimized SQL statements/Scripts, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures, functions and other database objects.
Learn relevant business processes, understand the data flow, criticality, dependencies then document.
Periodically review, implement and enforce policies related to database management.
Develop database management standards and guidelines according to best industry practices.
Review procedures in database management system manuals for making changes to database to enhance integrity of data.
Identify required modifications to existing databases and database management systems and direct programmers and analysts to make changes to ensure the database is accurate
Work as part of a project team to coordinate database related tasks
Schedule the installation, patching and testing of new DBMS versions and perform database upgrades to the latest product versions.
Produce periodic reports to inform on DBMS performance levels.
Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database according to set policy to protect information against unauthorized access.

 

 

 

Experience

A minimum of five (3-4) years’ experience in database administration at an organization of similar size or equivalent.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, information systems or any other relevant degree
Knowledge
Technical database administration skills in Oracle, MySql, MSSQL and NoSQL DBs
Database Management
Database Design
Reporting Skills
Ability to work under pressure

Key Accountabilities

Maintain the company’s database systems including performance tuning, monitoring critical events, back-up/restore, archiving and documentation.
Manages the day-to-day operations of the Data Center by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair.
Manage and respond to all test environments’ requests from different groups that run different development and integration tasks within the bank.
Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained.
Applies revisions to host system firmware and software and works with vendors to assist support activities.
Manage and ensure that all systems accesses are appropriately handled.
Analyses and determines appropriate layout of all equipment’s in data Center with help of balancing and cooling.
Extract data from all the banking sources inclusive of the bank’s operating systems, the Customer Relationship Management system,
Monitor and supervise all data Center solutions and ensure smooth running of services.
Clean up and transform the data as per the user requirement to answer various business questions
Develop summary of the data based on the user requirements for information and present the data on appropriate user formats.
Install and maintain data centre’s equipment and systems as per the available guidelines and plans to ensure the data centres provide quality services.
Maintain data storage infrastructure and all necessary replications and data backups.
Attend to data Centre requests to ensure the customer service targets for the section are achieved.
Monitor all issues and escalate to appropriate department to ensure effective resolution.
Provide support in the repair of malfunctioning systems to ensure the availability of server services
Actively monitor the data Centre to ensure issues are picked out and addressed in a timely manner
Conduct general housekeeping to ensure a clean and tidy data Centre as per the agreed housekeeping standards
Monitor the data centre resources to ensure their security and functionality is achieved.

 

Experience

Minimum of three (3-4) years of experience in System administration/data Center management from an organization of similar size

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, information systems or any other relevant degree
Knowledge

IT Network Unit

 

Key Accountabilities

Carry out network administration and troubleshooting tasks to ensure WAN and LAN are operating efficiently at all times at head office, Disaster Recovery Center and in branches;
Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes;
Implement IT strategies and polices on routers, firewalls, switches and redundancy for the bank
Monitor user compliance with the policies and procedures on networks to ensure exposure to the business is curbed in a timely manner
Continually improve the network by monitoring and evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput and latency
Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of network devices for better performance
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
Implement relevant system updates as per schedule to ensure the system capability is managed at all times
Troubleshoots and solves the most complex network connectivity problems, including monitoring the network for problems, diagnosing problems, and taking the appropriate corrective measures to ensure an expedient resolution.
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations of all network devices.
Engage users on areas of improvement on infrastructure service delivery to ensure they are fully facilitated to deliver timely and quality service to customers
Handle escalated technical issues to support the business on network issues.

 

 

Experience

A minimum of three (3-4) years of experience in network administration from an organization of similar size and complexity in operations

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, information systems or any other relevant degree
Knowledge
