Role Overview
The Key Populations Program Fellow will assist the Key Populations Program Manager in the coordination of program activities, in the collection of high-quality program data, and in program reporting. The Key Populations (KP) Program involves five main service provision populations: female sex workers, men who have sex with men, clients of female sex workers, clients reporting STI symptoms, and voluntary medical male circumcision. KP activities are funded by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and are implemented in collaboration with the Rwanda Ministry of Health. The KP Program Fellow will help manage one or more population groups, including coordination of program activities, ongoing program monitoring, and data quality assurance. This role may change based on project needs.


Coordination of service provision activities
Assist KP Manager in ensuring that program activities are in sync with program goals and targets, funder requirements, budgetary considerations, and national clinical guidelines
Reporting on progress of activities
Data management including routine monitoring of databases, data cleaning, and quality improvement
Travel to districts outside of Kigali for routine stakeholder meetings and program data presentations
Maintain strong communication with KP team and supporting departments (admin, finance, lab, etc.) in order to quickly identify and problem-solve any obstacles to programming (stockouts, staffing issues, etc.)
Possibility for independent projects within the KP program, based on fellow’s interest and skills and on the needs of the KP program

Skills and Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Master’s degree in public health, statistics, economics or another social science, or related field*
Demonstrated program design and/or management experience*
Experience cleaning and organizing data, including maintaining a database like Microsoft Access*
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access)*
Academic training or professional experience in HIV prevention strategies in key populations
Working proficiency in French
Good oral communication skills with public speaking experience, e.g. presentations or trainings
Good time management and organization skills
Ability to manage a multi-faceted project and keep numerous channels of communication going at once
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work with a multicultural workforce
About the Organization
The Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group (RZHRG) has been a global leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS for more than 25 years, supporting prevention programs and research at its sites in Ndola and Lusaka, Zambia (ZEHRP) and in Kigali, Rwanda (Project San Francisco). RZHRG is committed to supporting Couples Voluntary Counseling and Testing (CVCT) as an effective and economical way to decrease HIV/AIDS transmission throughout southern Africa. Operating from Emory University, RZHRG programs include couples voluntary counseling and testing; couples family planning and counseling with the provision of long acting reversible contraceptives; research among key populations; data management and analysis; molecular work in the laboratories; and financial and administrative management. Much of the work RZHRG conducts relies on collaboration with local and international organizations.
