Operational Risk Manager – Risk Department
Reports to: The Chief Risk Officer
To coordinate, supervise and implement an effective operational risk management process for IMR activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Effectively administer and implement the yearly Operational Risk Plan
Develop methods and formats for risk identification, assessment, measurement and reporting
Monitor and report on adequacy of the internal control processes, people and systems or external event or other disasters
Develop quantitative and qualitative measurement methodologies
Coordinate annual departmental risk and control self-assessments and test of controls
Coordinate risk champions activities
Conduct risk assessment on all product introductions, new branch location, new market, outsourcing options, etc.
Provide support for Operational Risk Mapping and Profiling along Basel II requirements
Provide regular information on the effectiveness of the OR Management process
Report on risk likelihood, impact, and direction highlighting specific areas of analysis per business lines and support groups
Ensure departments’ key risk indicators are put in place and monitored consistently
Coordinating regular risk based policies and procedures update, documentation and communication
Handling special OR projects to enhance operational risk awareness and culture through annual trainings and various awareness activities
Keep abreast with new release/updates/reviews/ of new laws affecting business in relation to Operational Risk and escalating the same in a timely manner
Contribute to the 1st line of defence to share and ensure the respect of controls, or methodologies and procedures as well as correct Risk Assessment identification and operations
Review and assessment of Internal Control reporting (risk reports, ICCU reports, internal audit reports, etc…)
Implementation of Independent testing including high risk processes reviews, systems tests
Coordination of the Bank’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP) activities
Elaboration of the methodologies on Operational Risk monitoring and Permanent Control System
Monitoring and reporting of risk tolerance levels
Required skills and capabilities
Graduate in Finance, Business or related field, and professional qualification in risk related areas or ACCA/ CPA is an added value.
Experience of 3 years or more in risk related fields, internal control and compliance, external or internal audit
Must have a detailed knowledge of the tools and techniques of Risk Management
Good knowledge of all key business functions and an understanding of the key risks and controls in these areas
Good understanding of bank procedures in all areas and have a complete understanding of the regulatory environment
Must have a good understanding of the bank balance sheet and P&L drivers
A detailed knowledge of the bank’s operations and the environment (e.g. regulatory, physical) in which it operates
Must have a strategic business perspective
Personal organisation and planning skills
