Keele University has launched the Sustainable Rural Futures (SURF) Programme, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, to support the next generation of researchers committed to solving contemporary rural challenges in the UK and beyond. Scholars will receive full financial support to complete a Master’s degree at Keele in the first year, followed by a fully funded four-year PhD.

Applicants are expected to propose their own PhD project, and the selection panel is especially interested in projects focusing on rural youth, though all topics relevant to rural futures will be considered.

Programme Structure
