The LPI Summer Internship 2024 allows undergrad students to perform research, and learn more about planetary science. The LPI Intern program is a 10-week Fully funded paid internship in USA for international students. During the internship, participants will have an opportunity to participate in activities and attend lectures, and workshops. The LPI stands for Lunar and Planetary Institute.
The LPI will select 50 undergrad students. Applicants can be either U.S. citizens or foreign nationals. Students majoring in physical or natural science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics are preferred, but all eligible students will be considered. Location of Internship
The interns will be located either at the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) or the NASA Johnson Space Center, both in Houston, Texas.
Financial Benefits
Selected interns will receive:
- $8,220 in financial support.
- This amount covers the internship stipend, travel, housing, and cost of living expenses.
- The internships are funded through NASA’s Support for Planetary Sample Science.
Eligibility Criteria
The LPI Intern program is open to the following:
- Undergraduate students with at least 50 semester hours of credit are eligible.
- Students with majors in physical or natural science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics are preferred, but all eligible students will be considered.
- The internship is open to the citizens of the USA as well as all other foreign nationals.
LPI Internship Requirements
- You must complete all application forms online.
- You are required to submit at least two reference letters (maximum of 3)
- Official transcripts to qualify for the program.
- If you are a foreign national you must provide proof of English proficiency through one of these accepted methods:
- Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score
- A letter from one of the professors in the English department at your college confirming that you have sufficient spoken and written English language skills to successfully participate in the internship program.
