Terms of Reference – Managing Director (MD), GFC

Background

Great Future Company Limited (GFC) is a dynamic start-up focused on innovation and market expansion. For its daily running, the full time MD will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategic direction, driving growth, and ensuring operational excellence.

Objectives

  • Lead the development and execution of GFC’s business strategy.
  • Identify and establish new business lines to enhance revenue streams.
  • Ensure financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, investors, and partners.

Scope of Work

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and implement long-term business goals.
  • Business Development: Research, evaluate, and launch new market opportunities.
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and risk mitigation.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and scalability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent GFC in negotiations, partnerships, and investor relations.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Deliverables

  • A comprehensive business strategy with clear financial milestones.
  • Regular financial reports and performance assessments.
  • Market analysis and feasibility studies for new business lines.
  • Operational frameworks to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Reporting & Accountability

  • Reports directly to the Board of Directors.
  • Provides quarterly updates on business performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures transparency in financial and operational matters.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Proven experience in start-up leadership and new business development
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage P&L.
  • Expertise in scaling businesses and entering new markets.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Able and ready to work in 3 languages (English, French and Kinyarwanda)
  • Possessing a driving license a plus
