The Basil Industries is Leading Manufacturers of Corrugated Boxes, Laundry Bar Soaps, Ladies Sanitary Pads. Located at Industrial Park Muhanga.
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Production Plant
Job Summary:
Responsible for ensuring efficient and reliable operation of mechanical systems and equipment in a production plant, optimizing production processes, and implementing improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve mechanical equipment and systems (e.g., pumps, conveyors, gearboxes).
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and resolve problems.
- Design and implement modifications to existing equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize production processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a production plant.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with mechanical design software (e.g., Creo, Inventor).
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ASME).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
Work Environment:
- Production plant setting.
- Exposure to noise, heat, and hazardous materials.
- Shift work, including weekends.
