The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) is currently inviting applications for the position of Model UN Program Assistant. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the planning and execution of WFUNA’s prestigious International Model United Nations (WIMUN) conferences, while gaining valuable experience in international relations and the workings of the United Nations.

 Position Overview: Model UN Program Assistant

  • Assist in planning and executing WFUNA International Model UN (WIMUN) conferences.

  • Support the development of conference content and related projects.

  • Work under the supervision of the Model UN Coordinator.

  • The position is based in New York, but remote work is possible for qualified candidates.

  • This is an unpaid internship.

 Key Responsibilities

The Model UN Program Assistant will take on a variety of research and content-focused tasks, including:

  • Research Support: Conduct in-depth research on global issues and trends to support conference simulations.

  • Country Positions and Matrices: Collect official statements from UN Member States, track their positions, and prepare country matrices.

  • Content Review: Review study guides, bibliographies, and handbooks to ensure accuracy, clarity, and relevance for delegates.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in international relations, political science, or a related field.

  • Previous Model UN experience (especially WIMUN) is strongly preferred.

  • Research skills and familiarity with UN-related content.

  • Knowledge of the United Nations system; experience in non-profit or civil society sectors is a plus.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
